Fashion: August Best Dressed 2013

My birthday month was suitably stylish :)
Here is my top 12:

*Crystal Reed wore a floral Carolina Herrera dress to the 2013 Young Hollywood event, love the slicked back hair with this ensemble it is flirty but sophisticated
*Rachel McAdams rocked new copper waves at the 'About Time' premiere, this stunning white Roksanda Ilinic dress with its futuristic style detailing blew me away; simply gorgeous
*Bella Thorne was pretty in pink at the 'Planes' premiere as she wore a cute Blumarine rosy mini paired with mint green Bionda Castana heels

*James Marsden was looking dapper in a pale grey Saint Laurent at 'The Butler' premiere, love how he added a cheeky little cardigan under the suit to keep it casual
*Lily Collins has been on such a roll but this has to be my favourite  she wore a white lace Houghton gown to the 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' Toronto premiere, I love how all the front is covered but the bare back is so seductive plus her metallic make up and chic up do work so well together
*Michelle Obama wore an eye-catching black and red printed Tracy Reese dress at the 'Let Freedom Ring' ceremony, I love that she doesn't shy away from fashion, a simple up do and black heels let the dress do all the talking

*I love this outfit Christa B. Allen wore to the TV Critics Assoc Summer Press Tour Party. It is so simple but a complete showstopper for me, the deep pink Jenni Kayne swing dress paired with gold heels and a Jimmy Choo clutch is the perfect combination and shows that block colours aren't boring.
*Man, I love a guy in a  blue suit especially when they rock it as well as Jamie Campbell Bower did. He wore an Alexander McQueen ensemble to the LA premiere of 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' how yummy is he? I love how the messy hair, nose ring and necklace keep it very him
*Sandra Bullock is another who has been looking divine recently, she wore a bright summery Alex Perry bodycon number with gold Guiseppe Zanotti sandals to a 'Gravity' photocall. Love the golden/chocolate beachy waves too

*Ali Larter wore a chic and spring inspired Marchesa peplum dress to her cookbook launch, this is such a sweet soft look on her but I love how the grey Fendi clutch and those to die for violet heels vamp it up
*Zhang Ziyi looked adorable in a Alberta Ferreti outfit, paired with Guiseppe Zanotti heels as she attended the 'My Lucky Star' press conference, this outfit it playful without being cartoony
*Rihanna looked super hot in a black Balmain mini dress at VMAs after party, I wonder why she didn't just wear this to the main event? It's sexy but not trashy, red lips and Manolo Blahniks completed the look.

Best dressed for this month goes to Lily Collins, the first to have two photos for one outfit, I had to show off the back! I am constantly excited by these girls styling, can't wait to see what else she has in store for us!

Fashion: Black Milk meets Harry Potter

Two of my favourite things are joining together to create a magically fabulous collection; fashion and Harry Potter!!
Black Milk Clothing are an Australian cult fashion brand who are famous for designing cool and quirky leggings as well as dresses, tops, skirts and much more! The fashion label have previously produced a range of collections inspired by the hit franchise Star Wars, kids classic Sesame Street and the widely successful video game Mass Effect. Now they decided to turn their talent to the magical Harry Potter series.

I have just seen a sneak peek of the collection but I am more than in love with what I have spotted. Of course the leggings will be the big seller but what I have my eye on are the awesome jerseys, Gryffindor Seeker for me please!
The prices vary from product to product but the range seems to be about £30-£60, although it's an Australian company they ship to most countries (YAY)

From what I hear the line is set to be released this Autumn, so all us Potterheads can get our geek on again! Far too excited for words, are you as enchanted by this collection as I am?

Fashion: What I'm Wearing

Work 28/8/2013
It was my second day of working at River Island today! Now seeing as I'll be working in the fashion/retail industry how I look will play a relatively important part in my job so I thought perhaps once a week, maybe more I shall create a 'What I'm Wearing' post. FYI there is quite a high chance every post will include at least one River Island article...
(Yes they are Demi Lovato and One Direction badges you spy. I'm not even sorry.)

My skirt is River Island, t shirt and jacket are H&M, bag is ebay, necklace is Chanel, pumps are from New Look, lipstick is Kate Moss and nail polish is Nails Inc

Fashion: VMAs Best Dressed 2013

I hoped that I could do this a tad quicker but I had a bit Bank Holiday Monday anyway here is my Best Dressed from 2013 VMAs, this time round we have a top 9 and my was it a mixture of styles!

*Ariana Grande wore a pretty, floral structured skater dress by Kenley Collins paired with simple white stilettos, it's a very 'Rosy' ensemble and a tad predictable from the young star but she looks adorable nonetheless
*When I first saw this lady I literally went "WOW" Taylor Swift looked stunning in a navy Hervé Leger gown with 20's style golden pinned waves and trademark red lips
*Lady GaGa channeled her inner Morticia Adams in a black Prabal Gurung gown with a long dark wig, I love that this designer is recently starting to get some attention

*Ciara wore a fitted sheer Givenchy gown with white and sparkling embellishment and a feathered bottom, I adore her caramel and chocolate hair too
*Selena Gomez of course wore Atelier Versace, this navy gown with its studded detailing and lace bustier element is very 'sexy' but I think it works, love the emerald earrings too
*Ellie Goulding in a studded nude Amato Couture dress and platform heels by Brian Atwood, I've never really seen Ellie on the red carpet but I love this ensemble

*Naya Rivera looked super hot in a black vintage Paco Rabanne dress with cut out detailing and soft waves, this is a super sultry style that suits Naya down to a T
*I was unsure about this dress to start but I grew to love it, Katy Perry wore a leopard print Emanuel Ungaro dress with some serious gold detailing, black and metallic sandals and a slick ponytail
*Rita Ora was red hot in a printed Versace dress and matching stilettos, I much prefer this look to her red-carpet outfit

Best dressed goes to, hands down, Taylor Swift she looked simply stunning! A little different from her usual ensemble but those red lips are still there

Fashion: Celebrities Love

I had thought about doing another Celebrities Love post for some time then The Upcoming sent me across this brief and I thought BOOM! I shall add this to my blog.

As celebrities such as Emma Roberts and Jamie Chung are spotted with Gerard Darel’s ‘Dolly’ bag we wonder; is the new must-have accessory?
With a head office based within the chic city of Paris, the Gerard Darel fashion house is the epitome of Parisian fashion; simple, feminine and classically beautiful whilst at the same time remaining on trend and stylish. Inspired by iconic celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy, the Gerard Darel label has recently taken Hollywood by storm with actresses such as Angelina Jolie and Jessica Alba snapped rocking several of their items.
Success first came in 2003 with the launch of the, now infamous, 24 Hours bag, available in an array of materials, sizes and colours the 24 Hours bag was seen on the arm of every fashionista and stylish celebrity out there. 2011 saw the rise of the Single Bag, a soft leather tote that you could buy in the classic black and an assortment of bold and beautiful shades including an eye-catching bright green.
Now in 2013 Gerard Darel has designed yet another iconic piece of arm candy in the form of the simple yet beautiful ‘Dolly’ bag.

With a slim chain and leather strap, three zippered pouches and classic rectangular shape the Dolly is a versatile bag suitable for all events. Emmy Rossum kept it dark and sultry as she rocked it with jeans, boots and a blazer, Emma Roberts was California cool in a pink sun dress and vintage sunglasses whilst Jamie Chung paired the bag with a spotted shirt and white shorts for a casual and cute look. Whether you need something some sleek and smart for work or fun and fashionable for the weekend the Gerard Darel Dolly is perfect.
This new ‘It’ bag will cost you £230 and can be purchased from many places online including the Gerard Darel official website

Rainy London
Oh how rainy and rubbish was it on the weekend? Damn you London! It was a rather damp day but still hot, very tricky to dress for! I don't mind a bit of rain really and I had a fun day nonetheless although my feet were killing by the end of it!
Check out how I tackled a humid day out below, high street and high end options as always :)
FYI I am wearing Topshop jeans, New Look boots, H&M jacket and hat, bag from ebay and t-shirt as above

Life: My Birthday!!!

So I turned 24 on 17th August, how depressing right? I'm not much of a birthday person, I love to celebrate other peoples but the thought of getting older terrifies me beyond belief. But my sisters decided that I simply must do something as every year I just laze around like every other day so they decided to organise a little family gathering! It was so much fun :D
There were fruity cocktails, Chinese takeaway, lots of shots (apple sours, cherry sours, some extremely strong marzipan one...) balloons, fairy lights, red velvet cake made by Amber and drunken dance routines. Yes, we're that kind of family.....
Before the party three of my sisters, Sarah, Amber and Bryz had organised a little pampering session for me so they paid for me to have my nails done, hair done and a spray tan! Jealous?  You should be! Ha.
My boyfriend also traveled up and so did one of my sisters Amber and her boyf Denning, they live in Bristol but I really wanted them there so I gave them, like, six weeks warning! Ha. Unfortunately my mum and little sister couldn't make it :( So gutted about that but the people in attendance were me (obv) Mitch, Bryony, Amber, Denning, Sarah, James, Dad, Veronica, Lily and Tallulah. I think everyone had lots of fun and my boyfriend and sister Bryony got extremely drunk so the walk home was....interesting...

I received awesome presents which you can check out below:

Guitar and books from Mitch, New Look Shoes from Michaela, New Look dress and jacket from mum, Marc Jacobs 'Oh Lola' perfume and money from Mitch's parents, homemade badges and tiara and Marks and Spencer underwear from Tallulah and Lily, pampering session from Bryz, Ambz and Saiz, money from dad and family :)

Celebrations continued throughout the week as Lyle stayed for a while week!! Went into London a few times, met up with Mitch's mates, watched 2 Guns, Furious 6 and Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, had some food at Pizza Express and TGI Fridays and did a cheeky bit of shopping. Good times :)

Fashion: What I'm Wearing

Summer in London

If you fancy a similar style check out below for some inspiration!
(FYI my top is Jawbreaking, pumps are New Look, jeans are Topshop, bag and jacket are charity shop finds and sunglasses are River Island)

Beauty: No7 Stay Precise Liquid Liner Review

No7 Stay Precise Liquid Liner Review in Mermaid

I bought this as part of a deal No7 had on, it was buy one get one half price and I needed to invest in another mascara but honestly it was the bright colour of this eye liner that grabbed my attention.
My first reaction was "Wow there is no way it's going to be this colour on your skin!" But I was very much wrong and was very happy to be so.
This isn't the only shade they have, No7 have a fantastic collection including purple, green and gold but this is the only they had in store when I was shopping.
Although it is a fairly small bottle for £7.50 you only need a fine line to have a great impact so it is likely to last for quite some time. I have green eyes with a dash of blue and yellow in (see below) but this colour would look fabulous with every eye colour out there; a truly wonderfully bright and flattering shade.
The strongest attribute this eyeliner is its staying power! If you check out the photos below (excuse the dodgy photography) you can see I applied it in the morning and went out for the whole day- it rained might I add-but I did not need to reapply it at all! I was stunned at how well it stayed on, most certainly worth £7.50. The only problem is that you have to be very careful with the application as if you make any mistakes you are pretty much screwed as it is near impossible to remove.
So this products best trait is also its worst...I nearly rubbed my eyes off trying to take it off! But please don't let this put you off the product. I cannot recall the last time I found an eyeliner with such fab colour and staying power.

  • Great colour
  • Brilliant staying power
  • Bright on every skintone
  • Tricky to remove
  • Small bottle

Beauty: Hair Timeline

I thought about doing this at the start of the year but I wanted to wait until I had doing something with my hair so when my big sisters decided to pay for me to have my hair, nails and tan done I thought PERFECT! I can now complete my hair timeline, from 2006 till 2013.
So have a glance below to see my hair evolution. Aged 17 to 24.

By looking at this collage you would think that I am crazy in love with my long hair but in reality I'm not that phased by it, I've just never had the massive urge to cut all my hair off, well not since 2007....I went through a bit of an Emo stage....don't ask...
I've also clearly realized what fake tan and make up, the real question is: for better or for worse?
Either way I think it's interesting to see what I've done with my hair in the past eight years. A  choppy bob, a long bob, a full fringe, sweeping fringe, side parting, centre parting, pink hair extensions, blue and purple inserts, copper highlights, golden low lights, nearly black, layered, straight, curly, wavy and now mid-length, layered, a sweeping fringe with golden copper ends.
Have you ever thought about this? What would your hair time look like?

Fashion: Teen Choice Awards Best Dressed 2013

I love that when it's an awards show for a younger audience they often use a brightly coloured carpet, at the Teen Choice Awards they have a cool turquoise carpet and it brings a fun, summery feel to the event.

*Selena Gomez kept thing simple and chic as she picked up the Choice Hottie award in a deep bottle green Cushnie et Ochs and lace, nude Nincholas Kirkwood heels
*Michelle Rodriguez wore a gorgeous purple strapless David Miester dress and Guiseppe Zanotti heels, love this glam ensemble on her

*You can always rely on Nina Dobrev do look stylish and stunning. She wore a paint splattered J Mendel outfit, love the messy ponytail and bright orange clutch too

*Crystal Reed looked hot in a monochrome Carolina Herrera top and pants with red/orange lips, a voluminous bob and metallic LK Bennet heels

*Loved this blue ensemble from Jenna Ushkowitz, she work a simple black Splendid tank top apired with a bright blue plaid Georgine skirt and azure Casadei heels, adore the messy hair too
*Sandra Bullock wore a peacock print Antonio Beradi dress, I love peacock print and I think this dress is the perfect length, style and pattern for the TCA, fun but age appropriate
*Shay Mitchell looked stunning (as always) in a Jenni Kayne monochrome jumpsuit and bright yellow metallic Jimmy Choo heels, side swept ombre waves completed her look
*Holland Roden wore a sunshine yellow lace Marchesa dress, love that she paired it with white heels and a box clutch, another wearing a bright lipstick too, she proves red-heads can wear any colour
*Bridgit Mendler's pretty floral ensemble was of the first I saw.The Kelly Wearstler mini with its pokcets, mix od brights with black is the perfect everything for the TCAs' loved the studded sandals too
*Miley Cyrus nearly didn't make the cut as I'm not sure I like the white pumps with this ensemble and I feel like I've seen this look from her before. Honestly though there's not denying how much I love this Saint Laurent bondage style ensemble. Plus, this is my favourite way she wears her hair

Best dressed goes to Shay Mitchell closely followed by Bridgit Mendler. I love everything about Shay's look, including the dewy skin, singular ring and simple but smokey make up.

Fashion: Beatrice + Rabbit

"Beatrice + Rabbit is for the music junkies, the outsiders, the insiders, the freaks and the weirdos, the dreamers, the rule breakers, and the kids who get knocked down, but (somehow) always manage to get back up."- Beatrice + Rabbit

Twitter will be the devil of me in regards to fashion I swear, I think this is the sixth clothing company that I have found via the social media site! Not that I should be complaining really as they have all been awesome retail brands.
Beatrice and Rabbit is a cute independent clothing company run by Raven Cantrell and Lindsey Leigh Pratt, when I saw that the ladies cite themselves as 'Two cat ladies' on their Twitter page I knew I would be a fan; I was right.
Based in Tennesse, Beatrice + Rabbit came about when Raven and Lindsey decided to rebel against the norm of attending college and start up their own fashion company. Having been told all their lives 'they lived in a fantasy world' the two best buds thought they would turn this dream into a reality and so Beatrice + Rabbit was born.

Named after their two cats (an adorable yet smart idea) Beatrice + Rabbit create cute and quirky top that made you think "Why had this never been put on a t-shirt before?!"
I would say my favourite design is the "I just wanna be a mermaid" tank but then I see the "FANGIRL" crop top and I'm all a fluster! The designs are cool, fun and bring out the dreamer in all of us; and that is only ever a good thing.
Although they are based in America the dynamic duo have ensured everybody in the world can have a piece of the Beatrice + Rabbit name so they shop worldwide. (In fact at the moment it is free worldwide shipping when you send just $50/£32!)
Prices start at just $20/£13 and for an iconic top like the ones available you would be crazy to not grab one now (I'm just waiting for pay day :D)

Fashion: D.Fame

D.Fame Denim Collection; Vintage Styles Fused With An Abstract Artistic Influence

Run by Dennaya Famous and her younger brother Darion, D.Fame is a cool fashion brand that specialises in creating denim shorts printed with quirky patterns and stand-out graphics.
Set up just two years ago, D.Fame has gradually become an iconic brand within the creator’s native city of Las Vegas.
Having started out as an online vintage and deadstock clothing store, the D.Fame crew worked on many fashion, celebrity and magazine shoots before deciding to try their hand at fashion design.

Dennaya and Darion take vintage garments and add a quirky detail; sometimes they even give the article a complete make-over, but they ensure that every piece still has an element of old-school charm.
The most recent collection is an on-trend assortment consisting of eclectic and stand-out denim shorts. From deep turquoise to tie-dye red, the high-waisted shorts remain vintage in their shape but the colours picked and the prints selected revitalise the pieces to create a must-have for any summer wardrobe.
This fashion set certainly has a 90s American feel to it and by checking out the company’s blog here you can see how they style their designs with crop tops and bold colours for that true 90s nostalgia. But once again D.Fame manage to keep it fresh with sleek hair and contemporary jewelry.
D.Fame also stock crew neck sweaters, crop tops and beanies, all of which are created with the same passion and originality of D.Fame’s iconic denim shorts. Prices vary from product to product but start at about $65 and go up $95, approximately £40 to £65 for us here in the UK. Unfortunately D.Fame is not available in any of our British stores, but you can most certainly purchase their designs online and have them shipped here for a pretty good price.
