Fashion: July Best Dressed 2013

July was an extremely fashionable month! I have decided to do another post on the best dressed from Comic Con as so many of them were filling up this post there was barely room for the others!
Anyway here i my stop 12 from July with a few people who are making their first appearance on my best dressed list:)

*Urgh I just love Holland Roden and those beautiful auburn locks! She wore a Naeem Khan monochrome mini with hot red lips to the Red 2 premiere- I like what she did there.
*Miranda Kerr was a bundle of pink and sorbet floral deliciousness in Erdem at Samantha Thavasa ladies tournament. I love that the Valentino heels toughen it up  and that bag is to die for
*Rose Byrne kept it simple and chic in neutral Christopher Kane and nude Casadei pumps at the Blue Jasmine premiere, everybody has been raving about that soft romantic updo- and I can see why its simple yet beautiful
*Nicola Roberts wore a quirky striped Topshop dress paired with a purple Vivienne Westwood clutch at Warner Esquire summer party, loved the retro hair too!
*Khloe Kardashian wore a complete white ensemble which she rocked well but I adore the way that she added texture with the Louboutin pumps and colour with the bright yellow bag and turquoise nails
*This is a first on this list for Lizzy Caplan and a great start too. She looked super hot in this orange J Mendel bodycon number and metallic Jimmy Choo sandals at the summer TCA party

*To say I love this pink and silver combo would be a massive understatement. Naya Rivera wore a gorgeous Michael Kors bandeau dress and Silver Monika Chaing stilettos as she attended the Giffoni film festival
*Blake Lively supported her husband at the New York premiere of Turbo in a slinky grey Burberry Prosurm outfit with some serious embellishment and simple nude stilettos. Her trademark tan and golden waves kept it all very 'Blake.'
*Maria Sharapova wore a sparkling silver J Mendel creation with black trimmings as she attended the ESPY awards, for some the heels were a little heavy but for me it pulls the look together

*I love Simon Pegg; just you know in general and for the world premiere of The Worlds End he wore this stand out powder blue suit and my love grew even more. From the candy cane striped tie to the black piping I just love it
*Britney Spears attended the Smurfs 2 premiere wearing the colour of the night; in the form of a bright azure blue Hervé Leger dress with contrasting black pumps
*Katherine Webb made an appearance at ESPY awards in a stunning ocean-inspired Georges Chakra corseted dress, part of me wishes the heels were silver but maybe that would be too much shimmer? Other wise it's a beautiful number and as always she looked breath-taking.

Best dressed this month goes to Naya Rivera, could you guess? I nearly went for Miranda Kerr then I thought maybe Lizzy Caplan but I just adore Naya's styling.

Fashion: Comic Con Best Dressed 2013

This isn't a post showcasing all of the awesome comic and film inspired costumes I'm afraid-although how cool would that be?- Instead this is my pick of those celebrities who truly pulled it of the bag for this fun event.
Here is a top 9:

*Nina Dobrev wore a a funky and bright floral and striped ensemble from the Sachin and Babi Resort collection, might I add I am so in love with those metallic purple Jimmy Choo heels.
*Emilia Clarke was looking hot in a tomato red Christopher Kane bodycon number with striped mesh inserts, the pumps matched perfectly and made her dark hair and light eyes stand out
*Lily Collins looked totally adorable (how beautiful is this girl?) in a monochrome Paper London shorts and crop top ensemble, simple but stylish.

*Emily Blunt combined two of my favourite colours in a bubblegum pink and purple Wes Gordon dress and hot pink Rupert Sanderson heels
*Scarlett Johansson was the first to apear on my radar at Comic Con and I thought she look simply stunning. A summery Versace bodycon dress and soft golden waves
*Zoe Saldana wore a slinky cornflower blue Balmain jumpsuit and although it has rather evening feel to it with the sparkling embellishments I think she styled it well with a sleek ponytail to keep it casual

*Yvone Strahovski wore a sleek and chic Sportmax dress and back pumps. I love how different the green top piece and monochrome yet they work great together, cute hair too
*Teen sensation (I said to watch our for her didn't I?) Hailee Steinfeld wore a cool red Kenzo dress with an interesting eye pattern paired with Christian Louboutin ankle boots and as always her long dark looked gorgeous
*Hayley Atwell showed off her enviable figure and unfairly small waist in a white Burberry Prorsum outfit, such a wonderful fit on her and the shape is super flattering too

Beauty: How to...Galaxy Nails

I have seen galaxy nails a fair few places and I literally love them so when I realized how 'easy' everybody was saying they were to create, I decided to tackle them myself!
I checked out a few tutorials on Youtube and also some pictures and text ones (like this) and mixed them all up to create this tutorial.

What you need (I have included pictures too!)

  • A mixture of nail polishes. I used a matte navy by Nails Inc, a shimmer grey by O.P.I, matte turquoise by Missguided, metallic deep pink by O.P.I, a shimmering indigo by Ted Baker, a glittery blue by O.P.I and clear by Rimmel
  • A sponge of some sorts. I used an old make up wedge but you could possibly use tissues too for the same effect.
What you do:
  • Paint your nails a deep colour (as the base for your art!) I chose this shimmering indigo shade by Ted Baker but you could use any deep blue or purple shade or even black
  • Wait for the base colour to dry then pick a second colour and put a little bit of the polish onto the sponge and use this to dab the nails, don't worry if it looks a bit messy mine sure did!
  • Do this with each of the colours (besides the glitter) and don't forget to blend. To do this you just use the sponge and smudge the colours together.
  • Once you have added all of the colours go over with the clear nail varnish and wait for it to dry.
  • Once it is dry to touch add the sparkle, don't use too much or it'll over take the pretty galaxy colours!
  • Finally another coat of clear and voila! Pretty Galaxy inspired nails.
I must admit that I am rather impatient and a tad messy with the nail painting skills but that's what polish remover is for-just clean it up after :)

(By the way the actual polishes I used are above and the names are as follows: the deep navy blue is Motcomb Street by Nails Inc, the two tone grey is Not Like The Movies from Katy Perry for OPI, the turquoise in Misstique by Missuided,  the grey is Not Like The Movies from Katy Perry for OPI, the blue sparkle is Last Friday from Katy Perry for OPI and the Rimmel is simply called clear. The Ted Baker varnish doesn't have a name I'm afraid!)

Fashion: Vestry

I discovered this company as Vicky Pattinson (of Geordie Shore fame) is often tweeting about them- yes another brand that she has unintentionally introduced me to!
Vestry create celebrity inspired dresses and ultra glamour tops, bags and shoes (to name but a few) that come with a reasonable price tag, some as little as £30.

Above I have included my favourite picks, they extensive collection include bright coloured bodycon, embellished minis, day-time wraps and pretty skater dresses and much, much more! I simply adore the bright orange number that would look stunning against a tan (as pictured) with gold accessories, don't you think?
Although their super hot dresses are clearly their selling point they also stock might fine accessories and I am crazy in love with their stylish and fun bags-in particular the bubblegum pink tote (see below.)
Vestry sell a range of designs from numerous brands including TNFC, Quontum, Rare and Iron Fist which as every fashion loving girls know are fabulous labels that offer party-ready pieces.

FYI at the moment they have a sale on which means some pieces are just £10! Head over there right this instant! Next time I have some money and need a new outfit for a night out I know it'll be first stop :)

Fashion: Eshvi

Eshvi: Luxurious costume jewellery all the way from Georgia

The first jewellery line from Eshvi is a stunning array of neon colours, bold shapes and statement designs.
Natia and Tamar, the ladies behind the Eshvi brand, moved to London all the way from Georgia in 2011 with big dreams to create their very own jewellery line. With the support of Giselle Ganne, who was already a success in the fashion world having worked for British fine jewellery guru Stephen Webster, Natia and Tamar were set for great things.
With a name that derives from the Georgian word for fang and a motto that reads “For those who dare to be different” you would expect a fierce collection of fabulous costume jewellery from these two ladies, and they do not disappoint.
In every jewellery line from Eshvi they include the soon-to-be iconic fang – a symbol of good luck in the ladies’ Georgian culture. Not only this, but it also represents the wild and untamed nature of their label.
Natia and Tamar travel all around the world grasping inspiration from all walks of life, and this is reflected in their gloriously artistic and wonderfully powerful pieces.
The designs from Eshvi are powerful and pack one hell of a punch. From bright fuchsia and silver earrings to intricate turquoise detailing on a cocktail ring, this jewellery line is bold and glamorous – the perfect addition to any outfit.
The collection includes everything you would ever need to fill up your jewellery box including rings, necklaces, earrings, pendants and bracelets. There is no word on the price yet but whatever the cost, it will most definitely be worth it.
Whether you decide to load up the bangles and rock a few rings at once or keep it simple with a blue and green fanged necklace, Eshvi will most certainly deliver a stunning piece of costume jewellery you will cherish forever.

Fashion: Phase Eight Collection 8

I did a post a month or two ago on Phase Eight and their super summery collection but at the time I also had my eye on their beautiful Collection 8 range and simply had to do a post dedicated to that fabulous collection.
The range of dresses is part of special edition set perfect for a black tie event or even a red carpet appearance and they are all around the £300 mark with some even coming in at just £225. We all love clothes that make us feel a little special and there is nothing quite as enchanting as a gown that wouldn't look out of place at a celebrity bash.
There are a fair few to choose from but I have picked my top six favourites, it was no mean feat I tell you, I have also included some celebrity inspiration which lets be honest would cost a great deal more!

I love this first one as it has a rather vintage feel to it and the blush shade is versatile, with the right beauty and styling it would suit any skintone.
This silver gown is so glamorous and I adore everything about it from the ombre colouring, slight v-neck and the fact that it is completely sequins!
This purple shade is simply stunning, the regal colour is sure to make you stand out for all the right reasons and would look fabulous with either gold or silver accessories.
I love the swirl pattern on this design and it has an almost looks like liquid metal which I love, the spaghetti straps are simple enough for the focus to be on the design and shape.
Sheer overlay is so popular right now and the combination of nude and sequin embellishment is very 20s, a certain Great Gatsby feel to it.
Red is always a winner and the combination of this blood red embroidery on a nude jersey is so unique plus the flared hem offers a flattering finish

Kardashian Kollection team up with Lipsy
After their collaboration with Dorothy Perkins last year the three Kardashian ladies are back in the world of UK fashion but this time they will be partnering up with every glitzy girl’s favourite fashion brand: Lipsy.
Although the British fashion label is famous for creating fabulous party dresses, they have more recently started designing everything for the fun-loving girl’s closet from handbags and hoodies to short and shoes.
With stars such as Jessica Lowndes and The Saturdays being photographed in their designs daily we know that Lipsy can create an outfit fit for a celebrity so what can expect when they team up with the most glamorous sisters in showbiz?
Lipsy caught up with Kourtney who was more than excited about the new fashion line: “Kim, Khloé and I are always looking for new ways to keep ourKollection unique and give our fans fashion-forward pieces, so we felt that teaming up with Lipsy was the perfect way to do this. There’s a little something for everyone in this new Kollection.”
What is so wonderful about the three sisters is that they all have very different styles; Kim is polished and glam, Kourtney more boho and eclectic whereas Khloe loves mixing it up- one day it will be laid-back casual the next she will be a full on rock star. With this in mind you know that there will at least one piece from this Kardashian Kollection that you will want in your wardrobe.

Fashion: Springbreak y'all...

Springbreak; wooden watches to punctuate your style and enhance your vibeFed up of trying to find unique watches which were also edgy and affordable the minds behind Springbreak took it upon themselves to create precisely that; reasonably priced wrist wear that would make people say “Hey awesome watch, man!” Not only are they designing eclectic watches but in a bid to beat childhood hunger a portion of the sales from every watch goes to fighting that exact cause.
After studying together at both school and college, Maurice Davis and Kwame Andrews dabbled in a range of other activities. They bagged themselves a few graduate degrees and were involved in combat tours of Iraq and Afghanistan but eventually they decided to revisit their obsession with watches and so the Springbreak company was born.

The Springbreak brand is not like any fashion or retail company you have seen before especially in the world of watches. There is no excessive bling or mixed metals, jewels and colour the materials are eco-friendly and wonderfully fresh and simple.
Currently in stock is the crisp and cool maple wood watch named ‘The White Party Wood Watch’ and it costs just $85/£56. Springbreak promises to be affordable but this is a complete steal for a sustainable timepiece that is not only edgy and cool but is also hypoallergenic, eco-friendly and the labels signature design.
It has to be said that what the Springbreak guys are doing is as much innovative and exciting as it is inspiring and important. Every purchase means one more meal for a child in need of food, each watch can provide up to ten nutritious meals for a hungry child in America.
So, if like the geniuses behind Springbreak you want to do your bit for the children of America why not head over to their site and pick yourself up a smart and sleek maple wood watch? You will be purchasing yourself a piece of stylish arm candy and could even save a life.
Check it out The Upcoming too!

Beauty: Dirty Works Coconut Scrub Review

Dirty Works Coconut Scrub
£2.99
***
(I wrote this ages ago don't know it has taken me so long to post!)
I love a good scrub, especially when it isn't too expensive, in case you haven't noticed I am a tad strapped for cash at the moment! So when I spotted Dirty Works Coconut Caress in my local Sainsburys I decided to give it a whirl, for less then £3 it was a steal and I am a sucker for anything that smells like coconut.
What I expect from a scrub is a an attractive tube/bottle, a lush smell, a positive effect on my skin (makes it smooth) and lasting in two ways; doesn't run out quickly and keeps my skin soft and fresh for some time.
Firstly hats off to the packaging, yes it is a little reminiscent of the Soap and Glory set but for a fraction of the price and from a just as deliciously delightfully collection. Top marks there.
Secondly the scent, as previously mentioned I love the smell of coconut, in fact anything slightly sweet (vanilla, cocoa, strawberry etc) is a winner for me.
It did have a somewhat positive effect on my skin most certainly when I was using it in the shower but the grains are relatively small so the scrub isn't that strong.
Finally, how long does it last? The tube seemed to go on forever! Which is a bonus and it is more of a scrub you use everyday rather then once a week.
If you are looking for a scrumptious smelling and totally affordable scrub that you can use every day as part of your shower routine then go for this one. However, if you are on the hunt for a harsher scrub that you can use just once a week for maximum results look elsewhere.
I would buy this again but I think I will also spend a little bit more and splash out on an exfoliater for when my fake tan won't budge.

Pros
  • Smell delicious
  • Long lasting
  • Leaves skin soft
  • Great packaging
Cons
  • Too fine granules
  • Not suitable for weekly scrubs

Fashion: June Best Dressed 2013

I usually like to post this in between 30th and 3rd so the 2nd is the perfect timing! You can see from the first set of ladies that summer style is in all full swing, some have chosen darker hues but in general this is a fresh, summery post!
Check out top 12 from June

*Jessica Alba radiated a mix of summer and sex appeal in this canary yellow Versace bandeau mini at Guys Choice Awards
*Shay Mitchell looked beautiful as always in a powder blue Naveen shorts suit and contrasting yellow shirt with gold accesories
*Haley Bennet in a vintage style and rather chic Louis Vuitton fall dress at the Bling Ring premiere with strappy shoes also by the designer

*Beyonce in a matching Topshop crop top and pencil skirt with a pop of colour in the form of orange pumps at Kanye Wests birthday party
*Emmy Rossum back on my list in a similar style to last time, I just love this fresh spring dress by Oscar de la Renta, I also adore the pink lip and purple flower print
*I knew that this starlet was a fashionista in the making, Annasophia Robb shone at the CMT Music Awards in a gorgeous Georges Chakra halterneck mini and sparkling Brian Atwood sandals.

*Nicole Richie at CFDA Awards in a bronze Marc Jacobs dress, sleek hair and red lips kept the focus on this simple yet seductive gown
*Amy Adams in a beautiful black Nina Ricci at The Man of Steel premiere, her Hollywood waves and minimal accessories kept the look elegant and premiere perfect
*Uma Thurman wowed in a hot pink Atelier Versace gown at amfAR, I adore the shape and colour of this dress and its the first time I've really took notice of the actress' fashion choices

*Miley Cyrus in a sleek, tailored grey jumpsuit by Maison Martin and silver platforms Pradas with her trademark quiff and red lips, Victoria Beckham recently wore the same design but I think I prefer it on Miley.
*Lucy Hale looked sugary cute in a white Amen skater dress and metallic deep pink heels at the Much Music Awards
*Sandra bullock in a royal purple Prabal Gurung designs in Boston, love that this designer is truly starting to get noticed but celebrities and stylists alike.

Best dressed this week goes to Annasophia Robb, the more I look at the dress the more I love it. Plus she has partnered it with Brian Atwood heels and the Charlotte Olympia clutch which I am more than jealous of
