Fashion: March Best Dressed 2013

I really had to cut this list down, I think I had about sixteen or so to start with, it seems March is a busy, fashionable month for all!
I like to have a diverse selection of people and styles and although there are many pieces here I wouldn't wear myself (Isabelle Fuhrman, Emmy Rossum) it's usually because I simply wouldn't be able to rock it like they do!
Here is my top 12 form the first month of Spring:

*Isabelle Fuhrman in a vintage yellow dress with sleek hair, nude strap heels and a cute orange croc handbag at the Dukes of Melrose launch party; love the quirky boldness of the ensemble
*Eleanor Tomlinson in a stunning Azzaro gold sequin gown at Jack the Giant Slayer Hollywood premiere, the dress fits her like a glove and I quite like her copper hair against her porcelain skin too
*Caroline flack in candy pink shift dress with simple white pumps and a tan at the Savoy for a fundraising charity event
*Jessica Alba looking stylish and making me very jealous in floral print trousers and a Michael Kors jacket, combining the cool colours of spring and the blackness of winter
*Vanessa Hudgens in a figure-hugging yellow sequin dress by Alice + Olivia and a pair of gold heeled sandals on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
*Emmy Rossum in Oscar de la Renta at Oz: The Great and Powerful screening. I love the colours here in this gown, also the embellishment and shoes; stunning and feminine

*Maria Sharapova in a J Mendel purple creation with simple strap heeled sandals at Sony Open Party premiere. Love the mixed up prints and the cut off this dress, great colour on her skin tone
*Justin Timberlake at an iHeart Radio party was looking stylish and sleek dressed in Tom Ford tuxedo and Christian Louboutins
*Emilia Clarke wowed everybody in a cornflower blue strapless number design by Victoria Beckham at Game of Thrones premiere partnered with simple black accessories and super shiny centre parting.
*Vanessa Romero in a star print Tibi ensemble much like the Dolce and Gabbana print which was out a few years ago paired with sunshine yellow pumps to brighten up the simple but stylish look
*Lily Collins looked gorgeous in a monochrome floral blazer by Helmut Lang and black shorts on Extra! TV show
*Saorise Ronan showed off her interesting style in a ocean coloured Proenzea Schouler dress and black heels, with simple hair and make up all the focus remained on the dress

My best dressed goes to Isabelle Fuhrman, I am in awe, how does she rock a bright yellow almost boxed shaped dress with such ease? Love the bold orange bag and strap heels too. So jealous

Life: March Loves 2013

A little late with this one I fear, well it's not the end of March just yet! Soon though so had to chuck this one out there!
I've been a bit busy but have been trying to think of innovative ideas for my blog too! (None as of yet...)
As I said before I don't have any of my loves from this year so I have a fear that we shall have some duplicates soon....
Also I have unintentionally created an outfit; khaki trousers, jumper and this

But here is my loves for March anyway :)

Beauty: MAC Baking Beauties

For anybody who knows me or has even had a quick look at this blog will know how much I love anything pastel, cupcake or sweet inspired. That includes make-up.
L'Oreal previously released a candy themed collection and now MAC has jumped on the bandwagon and I am am psyched!

With a rather large selection to choose from including face powders, lipsticks, brushes, nail polishes, lip-glosses and many other treasures which I, just know, will fly off the shelves as soon as they become available this April

I think it would have been interesting to maybe have cupcakes or candy patterns on the powders but this cute floral prints work too! Pale pink with blue hues and a pale coral base with a deeper coral and green detailing
The tinted lip balms come in array of shades; Baking Beauty (pale peach), Cherry Cheery (candy pink), Sweet Tooth (soft lilac) and Glace (tinted icy blue)
I would go for the pale pink I think, although the pale orange would look lovely with a tan and copper/gold make up.
The nail lacquers also caught my eye in a cute threesome of Confectionery (lilac) Pistachio Cream (mint) and Blue Velvet (periwinkle blue.)
Prices range from £8 to about £20 which is pretty good and the generic MAC pricing, I've only really tried a lipstick and eye shadow from the MAC (both of which are ace) but everybody simply craves a MAC product when they become available so must be something decent about them!

Check out above for the other awesome items MAC will be offering!

Fashion: PVC and Perspex

Clear and Cool: Perspex and PVC accessories hit the high street
When Christian Louboutin released a pair of PVC and suede heels last year celebrities went crazy for them, known as the Bis Un Bout, the stylish heels were worn by the likes of Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Emma Stone-plus many more.  Alexander McQueen and Charlotte Olympia also included an array of Perspex clutches, handbags and heels at their 2012 fashions shows, which meant only one thing; it wouldn’t be long before the high street picked up on the plastic fantastic trend.
As we roll into spring of 2013 it seems that the time is here, hot on the heels of the famous designers stores such as New Look, Accessorize and even Harrods are offering a selection of stylish, see-through pieces at an affordable rate.
Check out below to see how you can grab yourself a piece of the transparent trend:

1.       Accessorize, £29. This pretty clutch is a great way to rock the trend but keep your belongings private as it comes with a spotted purse inside; much like those designed by Charlotte Olympia.
2.       Dune, £80. These cornflower blue heels are the perfect way to bring some colour into your spring wardrobe; wear with a floral dress for day or metallic mini for night.
3.       Friis and Company, £52.95. A statement bag if ever we saw one and for a fraction of the price. Pair this fluorescent bowling bag with muted colours to show it off or clash with prints and brights for on-trend 90s style
4.       ASOS, £40. These wedges highlight two summer must-haves; sunny yellow and see-through Perspex. With a wedge heel lower than 4inches and soft faux suede upper material, these shoes offer both comfort and fashion
5.       Harrods, £40. Harrods has given their stylish shoulder bag a transparent make over. It also comes with a small purse so you won’t be flashing your money. (Also available with bronze and black detailing for a more subtle look)
6.       New Look, £12.99. You can always depend on New Look to offer style on a budget. This pink, Perspex box clutch with the much-needed silver chain ticks all the boxes and won’t break the bank.

If you’re going to pull off one trend for spring it must be this; versatile and affordable. What’s not to love?

Fashion: Spring Breakers Round-Up

I can't recall the last time there was a film which offered such a stylish array of fashion. Due to the main cast of Spring Breakers being four, famous twenty something girls it was inevitable the red carpet would be filled with the same. From Ashley Tisdale to Shay Mitchell the premieres for Spring Breakers lay host different styles from girly to sexy and classic to hot, here is my pick of the best from Spring Breakers promo events:
*I cannot get enough of Bella Thornes style! I adore this pink Topshop dress I really want it! I love the Versace heels to the studs add an age to the soft pink floral design of the dress and cute plait
*The ever stunning Shay Mitchell looked amazing in a monochrome Sachi and Babi and the always stylish Jimmy Choo black sandals
*Selena Gomez was summery and sexy in a bright red Dolce and Gabbana ensemble, love the matching lips and soft side-swept waves too

*Ashley Benson showed off her temporarily brunette locks in a gorgeous Armani mini dress and silver pointed Monika Chaing heels
*Ashley Tisdale rocked her trade-marked mini dress and peep toes in a orange and black cut out RVN mini dress
*Rachel Korine showed off her toned curves in a lace Dolce and Gabbana dress which looked simply striking against her porcelain skin and dark hair

*Vanessa Hudgens channeled her inner Greek Goddess in a purple strapless maxi dress by Marchesa with gold accessories and soft clipped up waves
*Ashley Benson looked radiant in midnight blue strapless gown by Alberta Feretti with dark make up and a messy up-do
*Selena Gomez rocked up her look in an Atelier Versace pinstripe suit with zip hems and simple black heels, letting the clothing do all the talking.

*Rachel Korrine in a cute but hot heart-print Moschino peplum dress and deep pink heels, I feel like this girl just screams sex appeal, love her look
*Possibly my favourite of her looks, Vanessa Hudgens wore a pretty black and white Blumarine prom dress and cross-over platforms, the black and heels add edge to the pretty look
*Clearly a fan of Dolce and Gabbana, Selena Gomez wore a black and gold creation (very different from the hotter outfit mentioned earlier) with the same Jimmy Choo heels Shay wore at a photocall

Fashion: Kids Choice Awards 2013

It was the Kids Choice Awards on the weekend and many people flocked to the purple carpet to pick up a gong or two.
As always with events for the younger generation the styling was quite fun, summery with an edge of quirkiness. I find that there isn't as many celebs at the TCA and KCA I guess that's because its for the younger generation!
With this in mind, there's just a top 9:

*Selena Gomez looking fresh and pretty in a pale turquoise Oscar de la Renta peplum top, white shorts and silver heels, loved her soft waves and pulled back fringe too.
*Khloe Kardashian stunned in a white Antonio Beradi mini dress and white cuff heeled sandals. Her sun-kissed surfer waves and bronzed make was brilliant styling too
*Katy Perry wore a Herve Leger cropped top and pencil skirt ensemble in deep blue and bright yellow, the print was almost butterfly print and very summery, she paired with black pumps and simple hairstyle

*Bella Thorne is back on my list in a silver metallic set by Bec & Bridge, Alice + Olivia neon pink heels and bang on-trend Juicy Couture yellow perspex clutch
*Victoria Justice looked beautiful, as always, in a bright aztec print Pia Pauro mini frock and coral cross-over Aldo sandals
*Ke$ha rocked a baby blue suit, metallic heels, eye-catching sunnies and a cane. Although it's not to everybody's tastes this is so Ke$ha and I thought the suited really suited her- pun not intended.
*Willow Smith was a suprise for me as I loved the look, a cute Chanel mini with Chanel military boots and a denim jacket was her outfit of choice. There was the right level of cuteness combined with toughness for this ensemble.
*Fergie showed off her growing bump in a Mary Katrantzou bodycon dress which was all kinds of cool and partnered it with bright  yellow Fergie ‘Roxane’ sandals which I adored!
*Jessica Alba also wore Mary Katranzou but her dress was of a completely different style; jacquard, metallic and cap-sleeved. I loved her Christian Louboutin sequin heels too! Must add though that I don't love that hairstyle with this outfit.

Best dressed goes to Khloe Kardashian-no competition. The girl looks radiating in white and paired with those soft waves and bronzing she looked amazing!

Fashion: Beyoncé for H & M

H&M have released their first promotional imagery from their summer collection which features none other than Beyoncé.
The Swedish fashion company have had many famous faces modelling their pieces over the years including; Kylie Minogue, Jade Jagger, Gary Oldman and they can now at Beyoncé to that list.
It was first reported back in January that the singer would be partnering with the high street label when she was seen being photographed at the tropical destination of The Bahamas.
Two months later and we are presented with this summery, sultry photo which shows Beyoncé lay on a lounger in pair of patterned shorts, a cream shirt and some cute flower accessories in her hair and on her shoes.
So far only one image has been released but it already screams out true Beyoncé style with a mix of sex appeal, charm and class. The outfit itself is summery but not too revealing with a muted toned shirt and bang on-trend diamond print hot-pants with a coral-red lipstick and nails to add some Beyoncé fiery spice to the cute ensemble.
Beyoncé has been quoted saying “I really loved the concept we collaborated on to explore the different emotions of women represented by the four elements - fire, water, earth and wind.” This is a truly interesting way to look at fashion and it is possible to say that this first picture offers a mix of earth with the calm colours of the outfit and fire with the strong red-orange shade of the lips and nails.
It’s great to know that Beyoncé will be having some input into the collection and let’s hope the clothes reflect her exciting concept.
Not only has the star offered  creative input in the fashion side she has also recorded a song for the H&M advert which will be released in May, the same month the clothes hit stores.
The outdoor ads are said to read “Beyoncé as Mrs. Carter in H&M,” which is in reference to her world tour which starts April 15th, a month before the launch of the campaign.

Fashion: Frockdrop Fashion Launch

I was lucky enough to attend a fashion launch this week in Shoreditch for The Upcoming, check out my view on the launch and also relevant links.

Vintage Glam Meets Modern Chic: For One Week Only at Frockdrop, Shoreditch

Pop-up retail is steadily becoming the hottest high street trend, opening a store for just one day or one week is a superb way to launch a fashion line.
The latest company to do this is Frockdrop, open for one week only from 11th-17th March, the small but sweet shop is based at 68 Sclater Street, Shoreditch and is a must-see for anybody who loves fashion.
Run by Sharon Ozbeck, the Frockdrop stored opened yesterday and showcased a stunning array of vintage, timeless articles and brand new designer pieces.
From a lime green Balenciaga City tote for £80 to a pair of Alexander McQueen peep toes for less than £200, the collection is exquisite and the prices unbelievable.
The setting is perfect too; a snug but charming venue coated with a layer of white paint, the store echoes the style of a gallery with the designer hand bags showcased as if they are paintings themselves.
Sharon advised that she was unsure as to how to display the arm candy but her colleague suggested hanging them from the walls for all to see, because, let’s be honest  fashion truly is one of the most awe-inspiring works of art.
Christian Louboutin sandals and Chanel handbags are not the only things available. Frockdrop more than lives up to that ingenious name and somehow managed to pick up all of the most iconic designs from the worlds most loved designers.
The Diane von Fürstenberg wrap, iconic Missoni zig zag print dress and Hervé Léger knitted boydcon are all on sale and although not priced you can be guaranteed a fantastic deal.
Sharon advised she was inspired by ebay having spent much of her time on the online marketplace and it’s almost as though Frockdrop is a real life, designer version of the site.
The clothes are not yet priced which means a discussion of cost is involved and some people requested to have desired items put aside for future purchases; a smart way to draw them back to the store where they are likely to snap up another perfectly priced piece.
What stands out most about Frockdrop is the variation in style and era. Past season J Brand and Chloé jeans are just £20 after Sharon confessed to having “hundreds of pairs” but you also have the latest line of Cashmere by Tania available; all in mint condition.
To miss out on Frockdrop would be a rookie mistake; it’s heaven for every fashionista out there, whether you are into Parisian chic or London grunge you are certain to find a jacket or skirt you adore. Although the store was jam-packed with a mix of old and new a common denominator remained; there wasn’t a double of anything, so when it’s gone it truly is gone.

Life: Blog Re-Vamp

OK so there are a few things I think I might change/adapt.

At the moment there are a few posts which I do regularly; Celebrities Love, Monthly Loves, Monthly Round Up, Monthly Best Dressed, Fashion Icon, Yanks vs. Brits, Lyrics and Quotes, What I'm Wearing (although I have been slacking with this recently) and I think that's seems a lot when you write it down but I don't feel as though I have enough...!
I contemplating doing a monthly/weekly post about celebrity style inspiration, one male and one female.

For example how to dress like Mila Kunis and Andrew Garfield and offer high street and high end options (as always) I don't think they will be linked stars hence the reason I didn't pick Ashton Kutcher and Mila or something. What do you think?

Also I think i may rename my blog.......

More updates soon

Fashion: Icon- The Ryan Gosling Post

"I just have my own taste, and I just try and stick with that."
Ryan Gosling
For my first male fashion icon post I knew it had to be somebody who really was iconic. I threw a few ideas around (David Beckham, James Dean, Leonardo DiCaprio) but in all honesty Ryan Gosling was the one who kept reappearing in my mind.
I find his style rather timeless and I love how his red carpet look is sleek, smart and stylish whereas the clothes he wears in his 'free time' is often casual, cool and a tad hippy but he never fails to offer the air of charm we all love.

*Wearing my favourite suit colour, he looked dashing in a blue Salvatore Ferragamo tuxedo at the SAG Awards
*Looking cool and dapper out and about in jeans and a dark Neil Barrett pea coat and Burberry scarf
*Rocking an olive green Gucci suit and matching striped tie at Ides of March premiere
*Another casual outfit and I have to say that blue is my favourite colour for Ryan to wear. I think its because it brings out those baby blues

*Wearing Salvatore Ferragamo for the third time in this post.I love the boldness of the purple and its such a great tone on him too
*I love this look but I cannot locate who any of the pieces are designed by!The tee is very Urban Outfitters but in all honesty I think the top and cardigan may be either vintage of one off pieces
*Who knew he was such a big fan of green? He paired the khaki sweater with Levi jeans and Philip Lim jacket
*This time dressing down smart brown trousers and loafers in a black Henley top for sleek airport style

*Smart meets casual in dark green trousers and a classic Ralph Lauren striped shirt with those sunglasses
*In a pine green Salvatore Ferragamo jumper, grey jeans and scruffy boots Ryan is epitome of cool and casual
*Somehow managing to make a logo tee, flat cap and brown boots work as he supports Gay Rights
*Another Gucci creation, this time a checkered charcoal-dare I say shimmering-suit at the Crazy, Stupid, Love premiere

Fashion: Celebrities Love

I've been compiling this list for sometime after I spotted Chloe Grace-Moretz wearing them with Stella McCartney I knew they would be the new 'It Shoe.'
Christian Louboutin 'Pivichic' heels

Christian Louboutin is without a doubt one of the most popular footwear designers for the rich and the famous. I would say he is their 'go to' for any event, be it shopping with the family or a red carpet evening.
The Pivichic is another pair of perspex footwear from the French designer and this pair have a unique, colourful diagonal pattern and approx. 4 inch heel.

Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker rocked the heels in a coral shade whereas French actress Sara Forestier chose the black pair to add quirk to her stunning Maxime Simoenes dress.
Although I loved the Bis un Bout a great deal (so much so I bought a high street style pair from ebay!) I think these are much more versatile. I believe that they are easier to fashion, much more flattering and suitable for all shapes and sizes-an ankle strap can be hard to pull off.
Katy Perry paired them with her Oscar de la Renta dress for a classically pretty look whereas Mila Kunis wore the bright pink set with muted navy blue for a stylish modern look.

All the ladies manage to wear the Pivichic heels in a completely different manner but all are smart enough to keep the outfit simple with such a quirky pair of shoes.
I think my favourite is Sarah Jessica Parker I love a LBD and the clashing azure blue jacket throws a fashionable edge without looking tacky.

Life: February Round up

I honestly can't believe its pretty much already March!
Even though February has been a short month I was pretty busy and I think that I'll be busy in March too, it's just a shame that money is a tad on the tight side.
Well I can tell you February started out not so well as me and my sister ordered Asda shopping which never turned up! So don't order food shopping from Asda in future as they are rubbish!
I've been working three times a week, from nine till five, for an up and coming film/tv company, it's a long day as I leave the house at about 6:40 and get home at about 7:40 but I'm glad to be working again and for a film company is cool too. There is about five of us and I'm the only girl; they are all super-smart guys and I joke that we're like The Big Bang Theory, I don't think I'm stupid but because they are all insanely clever I look a tad on the dippy side.
Because of the long journey (I spend a fair amount on the train) I'm going to start reading again, as somehow I don't have the time when I'm not working (I'm aware that makes little to no sense)
Anyway, I read a book which Mitch's mum gave me called The Hiding Place, it's a Christian novel set in Holland (which is where my surname originates from FYI) during World War Two. It was possibly one of the most inspiring novels I have ever had the pleasure to read, I believe in God anyway and have wanted to make my belief a little stronger and I reckon this novel was the perfect way to set me on my way!
I'm trying to read The Hobbit again but it's such a big book carrying it around everywhere is a bit of a hindrance, might save that for reading at home.
Of course it was awards season and we had the BRITS and the OSCARS both of which I watched, I haven't seen all of the films which were nominated so I'm unable to offer a valid opinion but the style stakes were pretty high! The BRITS were OK too although it irritates me when bands hate on each other, whats the point? There's enough room in the music industry for all of you!
In relation to music I'm really loving a band called Kodaline at the moment, they are an Irish group and not too very famous but have played a few gigs in London, I really want to go watch them play but no one else liked them :(
I went to see Lyle in February too and I met his new dog Diesel! He is huge! As soon as I walked through the door he jumped at me and nearly knocked me over, very cute and playful though.
Whilst I was there we watched Wreck-It Ralph which I would most certainly recommend for anyone who fancies watching an ace animation.
It was my dad girlfriends birthday and we threw a surprise party which me and one of my sisters Amber came down to visit for. It was pretty good as my dad and his mates just bought us lots of drinks! I felt rough the next day though....serves me right really; mixing beer and vodka.
I went up to York for Hannahs birthday a week or two later but I was ill :( the journey was a little treacherous and I felt so shit but I was determined to have a good time! When I arrived Hannah made me a cup of tea and I got my drink on, I actually didn't feel to bad the morning after either. Seeing as I haven't had much money I made her Sex and the City themed cupcakes which took all day to create! Think she liked them though which is the important thing :)
Now that February is over and we are making our way into March I have a few things planned. This weekend I'm off to my mums for her birthday, I will be seeing Michaela 8th March as she is coming to visit, I think I shall see Mitch at some point and I'm trying to rope Bryz into going out on St Patricks Day (we are half Irish after all) It's also Easter which is always a fun family event and I have a writing comp to end, I'm also off to see Olly Murs we two of my sisters; Amber and Imogen which is exciting!!
Anyway Happy March to you all!! :)
