Fashion: February Best Dressed 2013

I barely did any posts this month! How rubbish of me! It was of course a shorter month but still! Anyway here we have the best dressed of February, there is barely any colour this month as everybody feels the heavy Winter skies taking over dressed in black, grey and white:

*Kate Mara in an adorably chic pale blue Peter Som deign at the House of Cards screening, with  a messy but pretty ponytail
*Victoria Beckham was fashionably casual yet chic in a grey jumper and black Christian Louboutin boots in London this month
*Olivia Wilde in a gorgeous black and cream dress from the Talbot Runhof Resort line and  metallic peep toes at Revlon Coloursilk launch, love the mix of pretty and tough

*Rihanna in brightened up black pumps and skinny trousers in a brightly artistic Christopher Kane shirt and add a Dolce and Gabbana bag for class
*Emilia Clarke makes an appearance on best dressed in a tunning burgundy dress with clashing turquoise earrings and soft wave at amFAR
*Beyonce in a stunning, sparkling Elie Saab gown at the premiere of 'Life is But A Dream' love her pink lips and straight hair too, keeping focus on the striking dress

*Louis Tomlinson was looking sharp and stylish-as always -at The Brit Awards in an Alexander McQueen suit, I love that he always turns up the bottom his trousers; so dapper.
*Miranda Cosgrove was at the UK launch of Topshop and looked cute with a rock edge in a black quilted skater skirt, heart printed top and lace up platforms
*Chloe Grace Moretz channeled her inner 60s siren at the Elle Style Awards in a black and white Stella McCartney design with beehive hair and Christian Louboutins (look out these are the new Bis Un Bout)

*Everybody has been saying this but Britney Spears never looked better with her new chocolate hair and glittering black Michael Cino Couture dress at Elton Johns Oscar after party
*Alexa Chung was pretty in Valentino at The Brit Awards, her black pumps add the much-needed night time feel to a generally sweet set; undeniably cute though
*Nicole Richie was all kinda of hot in a monochrome Roberto Cavalli dress, although the style screams Cavalli the simplistic colouring is extremely muted for the designer!

My best dressed goes to Britney Spears, who called it? I was stuck between her and Nicole Richie but Britney looked dazzling, it was her complete make-over which blew me away

Fashion: Oscars Best Dressed 2013

I stayed up all night doing this post!
The awards ceremony that everybody has been waiting for is finally here, The Academy Awards-although my sister told me that they will be renaming it The OSCARS officially.
Everybody was wearing pale, cool shades, there were only a few in blue, black or a bright colour. Dior and Armani were the most popular designers and as always strapless was a popular body shape.
Anyway as we all know this is the time to wear your most fantastically glamorous number and I believe that these twelve stars truly took that notion and ran with it:

*Amy Adams literally blew me away in a dove grey Oscar de la Renta number with a sweetheart neckline and some serious ruffling, I love her hair too, I would usually prefer long waves but Amy exudes chicness with this up do
*Anne Hathway looked sweet and sleek in a pale pink Prada dress, she also wore a some serious back jewelry with her necklace draping down the toned back
*Jessica Chastain looked elegant as always in a sparkling nude gown by Armani Privé and might I add that her hair looked the best it has plus she rocked deep red lips wonderfully, movie star glam at its best

*Jennifer Lawrence continued to wow me in a strapless jacquard white dress which was of course- by Dior Haute Couture, she kept her hair out of her face and silver accessories completed her perfect princess look, including a back necklace which seems to be rather popular
*Catherine Zeta-Jones was gorgeous in a gold dress by Zuhair Murad (a designer I adore in case you hadn't noticed...) I love the way the bottom is sheer and the top has almost an armour feel to it; soft waves completed her look
*Charlize Theron was angelic in a white Dior Couture dress with peplum shaping and a cut v neckline, her cropped blonde hair was looking great too, she kept he chest bare but covered her wrists with Harry Winston jewels

*Naomi Watts will most certainly be on top of the best dressed lists again in a dark glittering Armani Privé dress, I love the cut out detailing and her quiffed hair. Naomi never fails to stand out in a stunning way, she rarely follows red carpet rules
*Jennifer Hudson wore a a navy blue Roberto Cavalli long sleeved gown which slid off her toned physique like water, I love the way the pattern almost has a bubbly look to it as well
*Salma Hayek in showed busty girls how to rock a high neck gown in this midnight Alexander McQueen velvet gown with some stunning heavy gold detailing around the neck, it's a such a fabulous departure from her usual attire

*Amanda Seyfried in an off lilac/grey dress by Alexander McQueen with a shimmering gold leaf design overlay, I love the keyhole neckline too, it adds a twist when everybody seems to be wearing strapless numbers
*Halle Berry wore another Versace dress but this dark glittering gown with its structured shoulders, mesh sleeves and deep neckline is a far better choice then the Golden Globes number, metallic make up and her trademark pixie crop finished off her styling
*Queen Latifah takes my final spot in a beautiful white Badgley Mischka design, simple yet classic and I love the slick hair and pink lips (the only photo I could find was on cocoperez....)

Best dressed for me goes to Amy Adams, I love the grey colour and adore the ruffles on the dress, its just the perfect size for the OSCARs, I don't think she has looked better

Fashion: LFW Julien Macdonald

Here we have my third post and as soon as I saw the first dress from this collection I knew had to post about it!
This guys knows about glamour, right?!
I'm aware of Julien Macdonald, having seem here on numerous TV shows and I know he is the mind behind Star for Debenhams, I always knew he loved to create sparkly numbers but this collection is simply WOW.

Girl group The Saturdays were sat front row for this show and I think that sums up who the target audience would be for this line; high glamour girls who love dressing up.
Royal colours of bottle green, petrol blue and strong red shone on the catwalk with sequins, tassels and mesh key ingredients to this sparkling collection of frocks,
My favourite is the central design above, the peacock colours, short length and plunging V would be the perfect piece for a cocktail party.

I am also very much in love with the blue/silver dress (far right) its glam, short and a little futuristic. Macdonald certainly knows how make a girl happy!
The running theme is certainly shimmer, short and showy, even the designs which are maxi have mesh side inserts which reveal skin or full length tassels which simply draw attention to the legs.
I must add that I feel as though a few of the designs have a slight Marchesa influence too, the red dress and the white one with the feather detailing especially. But who doesn't love a Marchesa mini?

Fashion: LFW Rihanna for River Island

So its currently London Fashion Week, I will be mixing up between London and New York as I continue to check out the shows online.
Here is my view on the Rihanna for River Island Collection.

I have read a few places that in reality it wasn't the clothes everybody was excited but more so the controversy which surrounds the star, which is truly quite annoying.
Anyway, seeing as I wasn't actually there I am not able to comment how the front row celebrities were behaving or what happens before of after the show. In some respects I think that is better, this way I have only the clothes and the staging to comment on.

Well lets start with the red dress which I can tell already is going to be sold out within seconds. Its reminiscent of the little red number she wore to the GQ awards but she has added the still on-trend dip hem for some sass. The model is also wearing ankle strap heels which I very similar to the Celine sandals Rihanna has been wearing for the past year.
She has picked a dark blue and pale blue/white floral print to pull the collection together and the sexy summer dress also comes in this print. A pair of cool and comfortable smart joggers also come in the motif and I must admit, I love them. I like that although some of the clothes are in muted colours of black, grey, blue and white she has chosen a funky print; floral or tie dye and if she has chosen a bright colour; red or yellow it is on simpler designed articles.

I know that celebrities always say they would wear their designs but I feel as though Rihanna would definitely be snapped in this outfits. From the red dress to the teeny tiny top and floral pants the collection screams RIHANNA.
My favourite would be the red dress and the floral trousers, although I do like the jumpsuit too. Even though she's included crop tops and revealing dresses Rihanna has also designed pieces which you could wear if you are a bit bigger or even a little body-conscious.
What do you think of Rihannas new fashion line? Will you be heading to River Island in two weeks?

Fashion: Yanks vs. Brits

I did think it was maybe a bit soon for another one of these but this took me some time to collate....
There are singers out there which are also on TV shows as judges so I couldn't use them (Demi, Britney, Cheryl, Jessie J) so I've picked four from UK and US which I think represent the countries well.
They all have relatively diverse styles-clear intention-this way we have some classic fashion mixed up with kooky craziness.

Brits
The British singers in this round are Rita Ora, Pixie Lott, Adele and Florence Welch.
These four British ladies all have very different taste but at the same I think you can tell that they are British.
Adele is famous for often wearing black (although she did recently were a red/pink floral number) and partners with voluminousness hair, strong lips and large lashes.
Pixie Lott is the queen of short shorts and floral headbands, she often wears clashing brights but if she picks a patterned key piece she will compliment it with plain accessories. Rita Ora on the other hand is often a mash up of bold colours and prints and currently rocks a rather 90s style with bomber jackets, hi top trainers and gold chains.
I find Florence the most British with her styling, rather boho and conservative but she certainly adds an eclectic edge. Some of her clothes even have a Victorian air to them with the deep reds, rich greens, browns and dark blues in terms of colour and old school floral prints, lace blouses and high-neck collars.
All four females, however, are rather feminine, even Rita in her quirky masculine pieces she adds her gloss make up and styled hair to bring back the girlish nature.

Yanks
For the USA I have picked Beyonce, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Gwen Stefani.
I find the Americans add a little more glamour to their styling, as I continue to do this post it is certainly a running theme. Brits are rather laid back cool or lady-like chic whereas the yanks are often girly glam or stylish casual.
Gwen Stefani is certainly the most eccentric from these four and also the most boyish, she often wears strong colours at once and also combines different textures but pulls them together with a focal point. Skinny jeans, crop tops and cool jackets are all part of Gwens look. Second to her is Katy Perry who is famous for wearing candy coloured brights and sometimes cartoon-like stage outfits. For events she keeps the vivid colour and adds sparkle and glitter. Beyonce isn't dissimilar to Katy and is certainly the most glamorous, she looks constantly immaculate styled even in casual wear. Beyonce and Katy are both about showing off those enviable bodies and high heels and mini dresses are their go to outfits.
Taylor Swift is the most classically feminine, often wearing white or pastels shades, she adds a dash of sexiness with strong red lips. Her casual clothes are a muted version of Gwens, a cool jumper with flats and skinny jeans.

Urgh, I don't want to be predictable and keep picking the same but sorry, the winner is...The Yanks!
Again? Yep!
I love 6 out of the 8 girls styles (three from each) so I was particularly biased I don't think....anyway I just think that the American girls manage to rock kookiness and quirky cool just as glamorously as they wear a simple dress with heels.
As always check out below for some stores which might offer some similar styles:

Yanks
Motel, ASOS, Forever21

Brits
Miss Selfridge, Rokit, Topshop

Yanks 3-1 Brits

Fashion: NYFW Badgley Mischka

New York fashion week is here isn't it?!
I've been so busy I nearly let it pass me by, my oh my.
I won't be doing a post on every single one, obviously, as that is simply ludicrous but just a few that stand out for me.
Once again I must mention Badgley Mischka. I feel as though I don't see this designer enough on the red carpet but their pieces are so stunning!
If you remember their s/s line it was very dream like with sherbet shades and the setting was reminiscent of A Midsummer Nights Dream.
This line seems to be of a similar style but instead of a poetic dream for their inspiration   they have gone for a beautifully nightmare theme and I adore it.

The colours are rich and enthralling with deep blues, strong scarlets and 'dirty metallics' capturing our eye on the stunning gowns. As always with BM there is glitz and glamour aplenty and those dresses which don't have a shimmer in the main colour are adorned with jeweled embellishments.

This line is simply stunning and screams old school Hollywood glamour and apparently the famous duo has sited the femme fatales of Alfred Hitchcock films as their inspiration for this line with Mischka commenting "We have a very strict, controlled silhouette. Think of Kim Novak in 'Vertigo.'"
Without this implication you can still feel the iconic directors presence with the use of black gloves, eloquent gold detailing and fur accessories.

I also love, once again, the setting. You can see from the photos that there lighting was extremely important and shadows, silhouettes and figures in the distance are all part of the show; a very Hitchcock show indeed.

I really think that the red, metallic design would look fabulous on Katy Perry and this the chic, fitted pieces are just waiting to be picked up by someone like Dita Von Teese.
I couldn't pick a favourite piece because they all truly stand out to me I do, however, have a soft spot for the second sapphire; the shape, the colour, the neckline, the jewels- its love!

What do you think about the line? Is it Hitchock enough for you?

Fashion: Grammys 2013

Grammys was on the same night as BAFTAs which just seems ridiculous to me but anyway....It was far more varied in style then say the BAFTAs and I think that's because you can wear something a little crazy or laid back and its far more accepted.
I could have picked 12 but I didn't completely adore them all, so like the BAFTAs I have gone for top 9:

*Taylor Swift wore another white creation by J Mendel with some silver detailing and a halo plait to complete the angelic style, although similar to other gowns she has worn I love the way the silver adds a gladiator like feel to the ensemble
*Rihanna blew me away in a full length red Azzedine Alaia dress which although full length was rather see-through and had many people talking. Waves and red lips completed her look
*Katy Perry made the most of her enviable bust in a mint green Gucci dress with embellishment around the neckline which drew attention to her assets and sleek centre parting hair

*Carrie Underwood wore a charcoal Roberto Cavalli dress with a lace and embroided black overlay, she added some serious frosting and long waves to complete the old school glam look
*Carly Rae Jepsen also wore a gunmetal Roberto Cavalli corset dress with matching metallic eyes and her standard blunt fringe hair, this is the most dramatic I've seen Carly and I like it
*Solange Knowles was in the colour of the season; emerald with added sparkle in a dress by Ralph & Russo, I love the contrasting coral heels too!

*Kelly Rowland wore a Georges Chakra black number, which I think you can tell what designed by him. I know some people hated the dress but I thought it looked fabulous and I liked that she kept her hair out of the way too
*Jennifer Lopez chanelled her inner Angelina Jolie and revealed her toned, tanned leg in a black Anthony Vaccarello one-shoulder dress with a pair of hot metallic strappy heels
*Natasha Bedingfield wore a red cut out dress by Emerson, I love the added belt which contrasts cool with the elegance of the lace gown itself.

My favourite for this event is a draw between the two reds; Rihanna and Natasha Bedingfield. I love love their dresses and it suits both their figures beautifully, they both capture elegance and cool with ease.

Fashion: BAFTAs 2013

It was the BAFTAs-as I am sure you all know-on Sunday and this post is a little later then usual as I have been in Devon, from Friday to Monday and so have only just managed to tackle this task.
Much like the British weather the colour scheme appeared to be dark; blues, blacks and greys and although there were a few outfits I loved I couldn't choose twelve so I've picked my top nine instead.

*Laura Whitmore was live from the red carpet in a black Alexandre Vauthier jumpsuit with heavy gold cuffs, red lips and those famous Hollywood waves
*Jessica Chastain in an azure blue Roland Mouret strapless origami style gown with matching drop earrings which clashed stunningly with her red hair
*Anne Hathaway looked the best she has this awards season in a black in Burberry gown with some circular gold embellishment, I loved her hair too!

*Sarah Jessica was another in a black jumpsuit, SJP wore a Elie Saab creation partnered with some seriously accessories  earrings, clutch, necklace and bangles. She rocked the style (as always) and was both chic and sleek
*Jennifer Lawrence wore another Christian Dior Couture dress in a frosted pink shade with sparkling sequin confetti detailing.
*Sally Fields wore a dark grey charcoal dress designed by Antonio Berardi and over the past few weeks she has almost made my list but just missed out! This time I had to add her because I loved the colour, tailoring and detailing (plus she reminds me of my mum...)

*Elizabeth Olsen in Chanel Couture navy and greying white design with some peplum and serious texture going on. It's very Chanel with a modern twist, I loved her laid-back but styled hair too
*Gemma Chan wore a shimmery chocolate brown and copper gold dress with a thigh high split and a great deal of drapery but with the long sleeves and slick waves she kept it chic
*Samantha Barks in a simple but beautiful black Celia Kritharioti dress with a deep v dress and added some sass with gold and black ankle strap Guiseppe Zanotti heels

Life: February Loves 2013

Due to the lack of money I haven't even really been doing window shopping because it just depresses me! There is so much on my previous posts that I want so I nearly did a round up of things from there...
But I didn't I decided to just create a whole new collage-its not very hard really, so this is my February loves:
I love that nail polish, I just want every Essie shade out there!! I love everything on this list actually (obvious really) and besides the head phones nothing is more than £55! Shame I have nada money.

Fashion: Celebrities Love

I have renamed this from Celebrity Craze to Celebrities Love purely because I think it has a better ring to it.
This time round, I am opting for a bag.
The Céline Boston Bag.
A french designer founded in 1945 Céline and offers sleek and stylish pieces which are classically chic and easily become wardrobe staples.
I am aware that it has been around for some time but I have only recently spotted it everywhere and some celebs (Dakota Fanning, Nicole Richie, Kourtney Kardashian) have it in an array of colours and/or prints, very jealous!
Originally a brand for children footwear Céline branched out to womens accessories, shoes and "fashion for everyone" in the 60s. Michael Kors was previously (potentially the most successful) the head designer for Céline for seven years but is now run by Phoebe Philo, ex-Chloé mastermind.

Avaliable in an amazing array of colours including cobalt blue and fuchsia or a more conservative black and tan. The Céline Boston is the type of bag you can literally take anyway, its big enough to use for a day at work or trip to the gym and also is smart enough for a dinner date.

I love how Carey Mulligan rocks this boho style whereas Nicole Richie pairs ripped jeans with cool sunglasses and a red jacket for rock chic.
If I was going to buy a staple accessory I think a Céline tote would be perfect. depending on who uses the Bostonl it can look slouchy shabby cool or structured city slick.
