Beauty: Miss Candy

This month there will be some potentially depressing posts because there is so much I want but cannot buy due to my June saving scheme.
This time on a Saturday evening whilst I watched The Village I cannot help but become steadily aware of the L'Oreal Miss Candy line. It looks right up my street

I not only love the word candy and pastel shades but I am also quite a fan on L'Oreal make up; the mascaras, shadows and foundation.
This sugary collection offers sweet coloured eye make up and polishes as well as glossy candy lip shimmers. Too much love, I really want the gloss in Glamshine Nude BonBon
Prices are, as always, really decent, ranging from about £5-£10.
Check out the Facebook page, its too much fun and offers you your style depending on your favourite candy!! Hehehe, I really love it.

Fashion: Best Dressed June 2012

Finally I can post my June best dressed!! I feel like this month has been pretty long and I have wanted to do this post for ages but it just didn't ever seem to be the end of June. I try not to wish time away though, so I didn't want to moan too much.
Anyway June had some hot additions but not enough for us to get into the mood for a magical summer. I have surprised myself with some people on this list (Kristen Bell, Olivia Palermo and Zoe Saldana mainly) as I am trying to be open minded when it comes to people and fashion.
I have to say Blake Lively and Emma Stone blew me AWAY this month, whilst promoting Savages and Spiderman they looked continuously fabulous.
Top 12 in no particular order:

Carmen Electra, I love this look; stylish corals jeans, Christian Louboutin wedges and smart cropped jacket
Jessica Alba was chic and pretty at Mont Blanc Press Conference in a nude Christian Dior dress and Casadei platform pumps
Kim Kardashian made the black sheer YSL dress look casual and sexy showing it is a new summer staple at The Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas

Leighton Meester is fresh faced and hot in a blue tye dye Versus dress with those Jimmy choo sandals at the Thats My Boy premiere
Zoe saldana once again in Prabal Gurung, this time a long black sheer gown at the CFDA awards
Kristen Bell in a gold, glittering Reem Acra dress at the CMT Music awards, there is something periodic but stylish which I love about this dress

Carley Rae Jepsen in silver sparkly Topshop dress and Valentino heels at the Capital FM Summertime Ball
Selena Gomez looked cute and gorgeous at the 3rd Annual Right to Laugh event dressed in a duck egg blue Versace dress with waist detailing and nude Guiseppe Zanotti pumps
Olivia Palermo walking her dog in NYC in denim cut offs and a Tibi coat

Katy Perry at Much Music Video Awards in a black VAWK Resort gown
Emma Stone at the UK premiere of The Amazing Spiderman in a super hot trouser suit with just the right amount of glitz and colour in the form a sequin shirt and red belt
Blake Lively at the L.A Savages premiere in Zuhair Murad Haute Couture sequin gown, nailing Hollywood glamour.

Beauty: Disney and MAC

I've got the feeling of deja vu...

In 2010 MAC released an uber cool make up line-which I have been trying to source for some time- it was some bad ass Disney villains including The Shadow Man from Princess and the Frog, Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians and many others. Two years on they seem to be giving it another spectacular go and some images have just been released.
I actually really liked the old packaging, it was genuine Disney but you could tell the quality of the make up was decent seeing as its MAC.
This time round they seem to be going for a slightly more artistic style, with the artwork a tad more chic.

So far we have nail varnish, eyeshadow palette and a compact mirror. The polish and eye make up pair up perfectly.
It's all very exciting!! The line will be on sale the September and will star the likes of Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Cruella, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Mother Gothel from Tangled, Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland and The Evil Queen from Snow White.

With the shadows we have Cruella in a a shimmery brown shade, The Evil Queen's a royal purple again with sparkle, Maleficent a sea-green teal, Mother Gothel a shimmery pinky copper, Queen of Hearts a pale yet warm creamy gold and Ursula and icy blue white.
I definitely like all of the shades but I am not sure I would pair the colours up with the certain characters as I feel a deep blue would match with Maleficent and sparkly black with Ursula. Nonetheless I am still keen to check these out.

This jazzy make up collection will be released alongside special edition collectors dolls! How intriguing.
Although I do wish they would release a Disney Princess range we could have gold and creams for Belle, red lips and white eyes for Snow White, pink hues for Sleeping Beauty, marine shades of turquoise mixed with purple for Ariel. It would be AMAZE!!
Maybe I should contact MAC....

I do wish this line was coming in August would be in time for my birthday! Dammit. Maybe I could spend some birthday money of one of these :)

Fashion: Shoe Dilemna

As I have said for quite some time I have been looking for the perfect yellow heel and I thought I'd found it in the form of ALDO's yellow Lillig heels and now theyare in the sale on ASOS from £60 down to £42. Knowing this my best friend sid she would buy them for me for my birthday :)
On closer examination I'm not sure they are high enough and I feel like I need a little bit more of a point on them as they only have a slight almond toe.
I have also stated they I am looking for another pair of nude heeled pumps and have found a pair I really like by also by ALDO and also in the sale £39 down from £85 !!

After much deliberations and talking to my friends (Harriet, Donna and Shelley) and also my sister (Bryony) I have decided to purchase the yellow heels as prezzie from my friend. I think I will buy the nude ones in a few months if they are still cheap OR if I don't like the yellow ones.

Oooooh exciting

Life:Weekly Round up

This week I went to the gym a few days during the week with my sister and Alex or on my own, the cross trainer is a killer!
I also watched some football and England got kicked out on Sunday DAMMIT. That's all of mine and Donna's teams now :( So we won't be making any money, no good comes from gambling I tell you!
Cannot believe that we missed on penalties, well I can't but its still infuriating.
Anyway, on the same day I watched the fantastic documentary on Elizabeth Taylor and her dazzling jewelry collection. It's called Elizabeth Taylor: An Auction of a Lifetime, it was brilliant and interesting, she was such a fantastic style icon.
Concerning fashion, I've starting selling some things out ebay a floral playsuit, leopard print skater dress and grey skinny jeans. They are all in really good condition and barely worn -depressingly the jeans are way too small any more :( - I don't think I'll be getting much money for them but every little helps. I also sent off my CD's to Music Magpie so should receive £10 soon, which will be nice if a little lame.
My friend Michaela also said she may buy me some yellow heels I want from ALDO for my birthday, eek!
I found a job I really want, its a at a theatre and relatively local called The Courtyard, I know I would love the role!! But probably won't get it dammit, I sent off the application today so we'll see.
I must share with you a serious awesome youtube channel I found. I'm not much of a youtube addict, I watched some interviews and trailers and stuff but that's it really. HOWEVER I came across the most fantastic make up tutorials by a young American women called Promise Tamang Phan and mAn you have to check her out, she is AMAZING!!
See below for her make up transformations:

You just check out what she looks like make up less (absolutely gorgeous but very different)

In other news, my boyfriend booked the hotel for when we go to Manchester, it's called the Mercure, i made him do it as I always have to organise everything! He panicked a little but I think he made the perfect choice, so very excited about that!
As I said before July and August will be reallllllly busy for me. My dad is visiting the weekend of the 7th where we going for a meal and watching an Abba tribute band (don't ask my sister roped me into it) then I'm going to Manchester to watch the USA vs GB basketball then off to Devon for a meal with Mitch's family as its his Gran's 90th (she looks amaze) AND THEN I'm going birthday shopping with Michaela in Birmingham. SO MUCH EXCITEMENT.
Anyway this week will be gym, job searching and also another film quiz. Ooooohh :)

Baking: Key Lime Pie?

It is Sunday and I am watching the football, oh how patriotic of me.
I had a flick through my cook books and I am thinking about tackling Key Lime Pie....Next week possibly, next weekend?
When I told the two sisters I live with (at different times) they both said "well they always make it on come dine with me....." HA. They are such losers.

I think I'll use meringue topping as opposed to whipped cream topping. You can use either and I really love Lemon Meringue Pie so combo of two :)
I have the Hummingbird Bakery recipe and they say you can use either.

If I decided to have a go I'll upload some photos either as a success story or a comedy value :D

    Life: Tumblr

    Joined Tumblr

    Life: Shed and Lyle

Boyfriend and cat, an unbeatable combination

    Life: Weekly Round Up

So this week, let me see.
I didn't do too much, joined the gym and Michaela hinted at doing some burlesque so we might check that out.
I have now joined IFB - Independent Fashion Bloggers and I may also join Tumblr, I haven't decided yet. I'm really excited and have had some really friendly messages from people :) It's a great way to get involved in the blogging world.
I have also made the decision to NOT purchase anything unnecessary throughout July, myself and my two friends Harriet and Shelley will not be buying make up, clothes, DVDs or going out for meals or to the cinema throughout July. Unless of course its a treat from someone else! Therefore hopefully my bank balance won't be dangerously in the minus department....
I'm also shipping of all my CD's and some DVD's on music magpie although I barely reach a tenner with 20 CD's. I'm also going to sell some clothes and maybe shoes on ebay too, REALLY NEED MONEY!
Talking of, back on the serious job applying mantra but still no luck for me :(
On a cuter note I'm thinking of getting myself a cute little tabby, I love CATS, so much and my sisters friend has some kittens but I just don't know if I should or not. My house is by a busy road and a few car parks so its quite dangerous, I also don't know what I would do if it was injured as I don't make much money. I'm anxious too that if I moved it wouldn't cope very well :( On the plus I would love it so much and it would keep me company :D If it was a boy I'd call it Winchester (after the Supernatural boys) and if it was a girl either Kimmy or Kardashian- you don't even need to ask....
In other news, I had some serious drama on Friday night.
Firstly I spoke to my friend Hannah for about two/three hours and she sounded a bit glum :( She's just moved to York for work-she used to live in London- and she's finding it a bit hard but I know she'll be OK soon. Its always hard moving somewhere when you know no one there but she makes friends easy. I really need to see her soon, my birthday probably. We planned to see each other in August and for Halloween (yes we are that organised.)
After my lovely phone call I was enjoying the football and we'd just won the match when I was making some green tea and I spilled the BOILING WATER all over my leg. Jeez Louise it was so painful. I cannot even explain. I had to ring my sister who ran home (drunk-too funny) and really helped. Ambulance around and everything! I'm OK its healed really well now and only a few blisters here and there. My sister wanted to be sure though and the paramedic was really nice.
After that drama my boyfriend traveled up from Devon to check on me! Silly and a bit of a drama queen but I'm glad he visited, we ate cherry pie and watched some films :)
Michaela's little bro is out of hospital too, YAY! Such good news. However cheeky miss has used up some of her holidays so we think we'll go for four days instead of a week as she doesn't have much time left.
Cannot wait for a holiday as the weather in England has been so shit, me and Bryony got absolutely drenched walking home one day, soaked to the bone. Was kinda funny! But weather certainly does put a damper on things.
Well although July will mean not spending money I have the basketball game to look forward to, my dad is coming to visit, a trip to Devon to see Mitch and will be planning my spa date with Hannah which will happen.
August will follow pursuit with actually seeing Hannah and having the spa trip, my birthday, Michaela's birthday and holiday booking. Roll on Summer!!

    Fashion: My Little Black Dress

That is the title of my best friends birthday party she's having. Every year its fancy dress, in recent years I have dressed up as Katy Perry, a sailor, a pin up girl and this year its LBD's for the girls and ties for the boys.
I originally thought I would go for neon accessories; yellow heels and pink clutch, orange heels and turquoise clutch as I'd seen Fergie in a hot get up. A dress with possible back detail or high neck. But I'm now nearing towards a black v neck mini and nude heels. I've seen a dress I really like from Miss Selfridge, we shall see what happens. I may change my mind next week and I have until August.
So far the knot dress and peep toes are my favourite combination

(L-R) Knot dress-Miss Selfridge, Deep v dress-Motel, Bandage dress- Miss Selfridge, Mesh Dress- Miss Selfridge
(L-R) Nude heels- QUIZ, Yellow mesh heels- Topshop, Yellow heels-ALDO, Orange heels-ASOS

    Literature: Diamond Eyes

Characters for a story I am currently writing, its about four sisters. Visualizing really helps me :)

    Fashion: Emma Stone Vogue

Emma Stone was this months face of Vogue and she looks simply stunning.
Emma is one of those girls who I always think is 'pretty' or 'cute' but never particularly 'hot' or even 'beautiful' but on the cover of Vogue she looked absolutely stunning!
The blonde hair and aqua eyes are so beautiful. I heard she dyes her naturally blonde hair red to 'stand out' in Hollywood but the porcelain skin, light eyes and hair is actually a unusual combination.
    Pretty pretty pretty

    Blog Updated

Updated the blog, plain white with a dash of colour; pinks and reds, not sure how long I'll keep it but thought simplicity may work for now

    : )

    Life: Weekly Round Up

A little late as its now mid week! But better late then never.
Last week was  three day week but it still really dragged at work :(
I am actually struggling to rememeber what I did!
I went to the gym a few times, yay me, so glad I've kept that up shame I can't actually see any difference yet!
My new vanity make up box arrived and its so much bigger then I thought it would be, which turns out to be agood thing as all my stuff only just fits. I've also stored some of hair products in there but that does make it a little heavy.
I saw my mum, little sister and some of my mums friends on Saturday. I went to the pub with my older sister (Bryony) and some of her mates (Alex, Steph and Antonio) to see Bryony's boyfriend (Nelson) play in his first gig, they are a folky two man band with just guitars and voices. It was fun. But I was SO COLD when it got a bit later.
I wore new black trousers from H and M, purple v-neck, lilac peep toe heels with my denim jacket and new turquoise clutch.
My little sister said to me on Saturday "You look like Kim Kardashain in that outfit....."
We also saw a hot air balloon which was cool and I drank some Pimms- summery and yummy
See below how to get the look:

    (L-R) Black trousers-H &M, £14.99, Turquoise clutch- ASOS, £14, Purple heels-Nine West, £95, Denim jacket- River Island, £35,

I wish I'd taken a photo of my eye make up :(  It was gold, purple and turquoise.
My best friend Michaela gave me back my favourite purple eyeliner she'd kept for ever, like years! Ha. We went for an all you can eat Chinese and it was super yum but we barely managed two helpings...
I'm also nearing the end of Superntaural Season 3 and also Desperate Housewives completely, this will be sad, its really starting to heat up though! Also in more TV news the new series of Pretty Little Liars started which was also exciting, yes I am a loser., it slightly feels the void where Once Upon A Time used to be......
I had some nail polish fun too on Sunday, I painted all my nails in Nails Inc pink they left one nail plain and coated it with Kimpletely in Love by Kardashian Kolours (OPI) and topped it up with Teenage Dream by Katy Perry (OPI) I loved the result :)
As you can see below I'm playing around with how I'm showing off the photos, I have Picasa and they've recently added some coo, random image processing.

    Fashion: Princess of Harrods

    Fashion and Disney!!

OK so two of my favourite things combined AGAIN, I love that the fashion (and art, media, literature...) worlds keep doing this.
Previously we had the Disney princess inspired VOGUE covers which were literally the coolest effing things I've ever set my eyes on.

Then we had the fairy tale and fashion inspired books  which were simply faboosh, such an ace idea

AND now this Christmas up market London store Harrods will be showcasing some fantastical art in the form of Disney princesses designed by some of the best fashion designers!!! The artwork will be in vie for all to see in the shop windows.
See below for a sneak peak of my favourite (Belle of Beauty and the Beast) envisioned by Valentino.

I wish I was such a freaking genius
Apparently from what I hear characters including Jasmine, Belle and Snow White will have an entire floor dedicated to them! And who, I hear you ask, are the designers involved? Jasmine and Versace? Belle and Valentino? Phenomenal. Others include Elie Saab and Oscar De La Renta so it truly is the best of the best.
It's as if Disney princesses are super models! I love it. Also there may even be some special sales going on involving princess inspired pieces
I cannot wait and I know EXACTLY what I will be checking out come December :D
A perfect day of watching new The Great Gatsby film, shopping in Harrods and having a super special Christmas mint hot chocolate from Costa, perfection!

    Fashion: Cravings

These past few months I have seen so much stuff I really would like, some of it is designer, some of it is high street.
So whats a better way then to create a mood board of those summer beauties I wish for?
My boyfriend and I had the discussion that I live a lifestyle as if I'm a millionaire, I spend too much much money on accessories and beauty products but not that much on clothes. I buy Benefit, MAC and OPI rather than slightly cheaper brands such as Rimmel, 17 or Barry M but I really am a big make up fan so that would be changing any time soon

    Things I CANT afford (Left)
Leopard print silk shirt as seen on Renee in Desperate Housewives by Yves Saint Laurent £634
Mesh cut heels by Jimmy Choo £450
Sunset/Sea clutch bag by Jimmy Choo £485
Princess perfume by Vera Wang £60
Studio Sculpt foundation by MAC £23

    Things I COULD afford...maybe... (Right)
Black skinny jeans by ANYONE!! £20-50
Yellow point court shoes by ASOS £45
Pansy nail varnish by Jessica £9.75
Beauty lies within bangle by Disney Couture £23

    Fashion: Hello Fashion Face

In my most recent issue of InStyle (with Cameron Diaz on the front and a free Nails Inc nail varnish btw) there was an article on fashion designer Prabal Gurung which really caught my attention.
He is a Singpore based designer who launched his first collection in February 2009 at New York fashion week and has since designed clothes which have been worn by Michelle Obama, Lady GaGa and Zoe Saldana; versatile much?
The piece was really interesting to read and since them I keep seeing his name everywhere and I'm glad :)
He is clearly a talented artist who makes stunning clothing (check out with brilliant colours and the patterns are STUNNING.
Some pieces are bright block colours separated with a dash of a contrasting colour or different material others offer a marbled, paint-like effect which are simply gorgeous to look at and then he has simple black articles sparking an edge with sheer fabric and chiffon inserts.
The materials range from silk and chiffon to cotton-blend and leather, offering style and breaking those fashion boundaries but still providing us with wearable clothing.
As with most luxury fashion labels prices range from later hundreds to thousands
See below for a few of favourite pieces by the designer:
