Beauty: Simple Products

As I said in an earlier post I recently received some cash on a Boots voucher for Christmas and as I also mentioned I'm going to try and pay more attention to my skin.
With this in mind I took a wonder into town and purchased some Simple products for myself as they were on offer of three for two. I bought an eye brightener, facial scrub and a toner.
I've barely used them so a review cannot be offered but check them out below:

Simple Clear Oil Balancing Facial Scrub, £3.99
Simple Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner, £2.99
Simple Kind to Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-On, £4.99

Life: Blog Under Construction

As we role into 2013 I shall be giving my blog an overhaul, as you can see already I've pastel-ized it up (who doesn't love some mints, lilacs and lemons?!)
I haven't decided what font I shall be using so there will be a great deal of trial and error plus I have a signature :)

Beauty: Clear Out

My sister bought me Bobbi Brown Make Up Manual (love it!)l for Christmas and as I have been reading through it I have decided that its time to throw out some make up. I have eight grubby mascaras, old, cakey foundations and far too many lipsticks which I either don't use or are just old.
It was a hard task and I think that I still haven't been brutal enough- I'll have another over haul in a month or so. Seeing as I am a little low on money at the moment there are certain items I know are past their sell by date but I love and cant afford to replace...Oh woe is me...

In 2013 I will be trying a bit harder to look after my skin too, although I clean daily and always remove make up before bed I am still full of large pores! My family often buy me Boots vouchers for my birthday which I love because I can spend it on Benefit, Urban Decay and Stila items :)

By the way I might offer a review of the book once I have given it a thorough read, by so far so good.

I hope you guys take care of your skin and your make up!

Fashion: December Best Dressed 2012

We've come to the end of the year and I have my final Best Dressed for 2012! I haven't quite been running this blog for a year, February will be the one year anniversary but I have enjoyed this past 11 months and am happy to say I have found some amazing bloggers!
Here we go with best dressed 12 stars of December:

*Amy Adams looking glitzy and glam in Jenny Packham at 2012 AMPAS Governors Awards
*Anne Kendrick wearing a season suitable sparkling ice blue dress by Georges Chakra Couture and metallic Christian Louboutins at the LGBT Fundraiser
*Rihanna looking angelic in a white, lace Nini Nguyen dress as she promoted her perfume at Macys-however I do find the black shoes a little too harsh...metallic sandals would have been a better choice.

*Jennifer Hudson at Michigan Avenue magazine party in a cute turquoise, black and cream sequin mini dress from 3.1 Phillip Lim and black tights and heels

*Eddie Redmayne is the second male to grace this list in a velvet teal Burberry suit at the premiere of Les Miserables in London
*Elle McPheron brightened up the winter months at the Mon Cheri Barbara event in a bright yellow Romona Keveza gown with muted accessories

*Sarah Jessica Parker attended the screening on In Vogue: The Editors Eye and wore a rust coloured, vintage, floral dress at purple/pink Jean-Michel Cazabat pumps

*Khloe Kardashian was show stopping at the first night of the X Factor final in a pleated Alexander McQueen skirt, Carolina Herrera blouse and neon orange Christian Louboutin heels
*Ciara in a gorgeous black sheer and sequin gown by Pamella Roland as she attended the VH1 Divas event in L.A

*Guliana Ranic out shone all of the nominess at the Miss Universe pageant in a sparkling charcoal blue princess gowin by Di Santo
*Hailee Steinfeld lookied stylish and quirky in a black and white Louis Vuitton playsuit with Nicholas Kirkwood heels at her Sweet 16th at Rolling Stones restaurant

*Britney Spears looked gorgeous in a beautiful black gown by Bottega Veneta at the X Factor USA finale.

My favourite out of this stylish set Khloe Kardashian-Odom I love the 60's style with a dash of colour and a modern take, I think she looks simply sensational.

Fashion: What I'm Wearing

Clapham High Street and Christmas Eve

So on 22nd December I went out with Hannah to Infernos in Clapham, it was very fun!! Such a blast, always guaranteed an awesome night with her :)

I also went to Pizza Express (again, yes) with my mother and her sisters and nieces/nephews etc on Christmas Eve.
I wore the same dress on both nights-a Christmas present- and went for relatively similar styles. I just wore dark lipstick, bow detailed heels and curled hair on Christmas Eve as opposed to straight hair, gloss and straight hair on 22nd.

Check out above for the exact dress I wore and some similar copycats as my shoes, rings and handbags are like so last season!

Hope you are having a magical Christmas :D

(Dress is River Island, handbag is Topshop, shoes are Dorothy Perkins and rings are Topshop)

Beauty: Top 5 Buys of 2012

Well we come to the end of 2012, I cannot wait to see the back of it to be honest!! I have decided to share with you my best beauty of the past year, these are the things then when I run out I am a tad traumatized. As always, in no particular order

1. John Freida Frizz Ease Daily Miracle Treatment, £5.49
I don't know whether this was just mind over matter but I found this to truly detangle my hair, in case you didn't know I have reasonably long hair (reaches halfway down my back) and the blow drying experience is rarely enjoyable. This 'miracle treatment' made the the brushing and diving a great deal easier, I am a a bit lost without it.

2. Katy Perry Fake Eyelashes, £5.95

I love Eyelure at the best of time but paired with Katy Perry they make the best lashes! I haven't tried the heaviest set yet but these ones are currently my favourite for a night out, the application is simple enough and they offer a glamorous effect, I cannot wait to try out her coloured collection.

3. Soap & Glory Fab Pore Facial Peel, £8.00

This offers an at home facial cleanse which left my skin glowing and a great deal brighter. I have quite large pores and I don't think this minimized them that much but I definitely saw a change instantly-more so then with any other product.

4. St Tropez Mousse Tan, £21.48 (£15*)

Its not secret that I am a fan of a bit of tan and I am yet to find one that beats St Topez, I have tried many; St Moriz, Fake Bake, Dove, Garnier, L'Oreal and although many will do this is by far my favourite. It smells pretty good too!

5. mop C-System Smoothing Shine Lotion, £14.95 (£4.95*)

I love this! I bought it as a random buy in TK Maxx one time for a fraction of the price and it was worth the grab. I have a lot of flyaways which are hard to control but this product certainly calms them down and when my hair just won't behave the lotion offers a much sleeker look.

*I managed to buy these online or in a discounted for a great deal cheaper- ebay, amazon, TK Maxx.

Fashion: New Years Eve

Here we have some New Years Eve ideas!!!
For Christmas Eve it was all about the black baggy trouser, Christmas Day was the essential jumper and now for New Years Eve I've decided to go for a sparkly shoe :D
Although on previous posts I've offered ideas with trousers, skirts, shorts etc this time for New Years Eve every outfit is designed around the glittery shoe and a party dress. Although the shoe is sequinned coated I chose it in black so patterns and added shimmer can be partnered with it.

As your can see I was feeling extra creative with the names! 50s doll, Oriental Princess, Gothic Glamour and Sequin Starlet are my chosen themes, I actually really love all of these and think I would wear them all :)

Hope you enjoy and have been having a merry Christmas!

Fashion: Christmas Day Ideas

Christmas Day
Who doesn't love a Christmas jumper? What better time to wear one then Christmas day itself?
There are so many designs out there at the moment but I thought this one from Dorothy Perkins is the perfect choice. In a pinewood colour with a touch of gold and cute reindeer motif its a versatile shade which matches with an array of colours; navy, purple, black, red, grey

This time around I have opted for casual, modern, punk and vintage chic which I think covers many areas of the styling world.
Take a pick!

Beauty: St Tropez Overload

This is more of a comical article then anything else.
I was going through old photos on Facebook and came across one from Christmas 2010 and could not believe the difference in my skin colour!!
I am partial to some fake tan; St Tropez, L'oreal, Dove, Fake Bake etc but didn't realize how naturally pale I am as its been so long! Every so often I do take a break-like right now- and resort to my pale colour but over the past two years I don't think I've ever been this white.

But check out the below for some comic relief!

My sister said that I'm not as pale as the above photo implies but I must be what ten shades darker with some bronzing mousse on? I look like a different person! My skin does look airbrushed in the paler photo and it is most certainly not that clear or smooth in real life.....
Make Over or Make Under??

Fashion: Christmas Eve Ideas

With Christmas just around the corner I have been doing some fashion searching, trying to find those perfect outfits for the holiday season.
I think I'll have a post for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day.
Lets start with Christmas Eve :D

Christmas Eve

Added some sparkle to simple black trousers as you head out for a meal with family or friends
Check out below for some Christmas inspiration:

I have opted for four different styles; Glamorous, Cool, Quirky and Androgynous. I nearly went for Sports Luxe instead of Androgynous but decided that mannish style is so in fashion right now so maybe I will change it up for other events.
I think I would go for glamorous or cool, I am going out for a family meal on Christmas Eve and I am still to decide what I shall be wearing but I definitely want to add some glitter. Whether is detailing on a top, sparkly shoes or a full on sequin dress December is definitely the time to pull out all the stops!

Christmas: Eighth day

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

...One pair of Charlotte Olympia Pumps, two Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster clutches, three Lurex Jumpers, four Michael Kors watches, five coloured blazers, six wrap dresses, seven pieces of peplum and eight mini skirts (Alice+Olivia, Topshop, Stella McCartney, House of Fraser, Republic, Dorothy Perkins, Isabel Marant, Rag+Bone £20-£350)

Christmas: Seventh Day

On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

...One pair of Charlotte Olympia Pumps, two Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster clutches, three Lurex Jumpers, four Michael Kors watches, five coloured blazers, six wrap dresses and seven pieces of peplum (Miss Selfridge, Fair + True, Warehouse, Topshop, Oasis, Dorothy Perkins, LK Bennett £30-£225)

Fashion: Kardashian Kollection Picks

As I said in my monthly round up here is my post on the pieces from the Kardashian Kollection for Dorothy Perkins that I really wish were mine!

Pale gold sequin jacket, £50, White and black tap top £30, Pale gold sequin dress £40, blue sequin clutch £30, Leopard print top £30, Black gold bar dress £40, Pale blush tote £55, Cream faux fur coat £60, Black quilted tote £55

There is currently a discount at Dorothy Perkins and a great deal of this items are £10 less than stated above.

As you can see there is a great deal of sequins and sparkle in the line which I simply adore, the cost isn't too extortionate either with the average piece being £40.

Check it out on the link below!

Christmas: Sixth Day

On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

...One pair of Charlotte Olympia Pumps, two Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster clutches, three Lurex Jumpers, four Michael Kors watches, five coloured blazers and six wrap dresses (LOVE, Rare, Warehouse, Carven, Diane Von Furstenberg, Dorothy Perkins £20-£399)

Beauty: Katy Perry for Eylure Colour-faux Lashes

I'm presume after the success of her previous collection Katy Perry has decided to up the ante and release a line of coloured fake eyelashes.
I've tried three of the Katy Perry eyelash sets; Oh Honey, Cool Kitty and Sweetie Pie. I haven't given Oh, My! a go but think for Christmas or New Year they may just be the perfect set.
I would easily give all three pairs a high marking out of ten; easy application, great staying power and not too delicate.
So here we have a new set, this time with a pop of colour which Is a cool idea and very Katy Perry.
The packaging is different too, the last boxes were pastel and patterned with a candy colour theme going on, this time its loud comic book style in bubblegum colours.

Once again four styles have been released; Ka-Ching! Ka-Zoom! Ka-Pow! Ka-Zaam!
Check out below for the official (slightly crazy) description of each pair.
'Scuse me ma’am, its Ka-Zaam!: Your eyes are moments away from a Superhero makeover. Little lash flares are made to be built up into something truly fabulous. Go all out and use all three jewel tones in one look or pick your favorite and layer them up to skyscraper heights. Zoinks!
It's m'thing, Ka-Ching!: A normal gal by day, a fabulously lashed super-vixen by night. This proud-as-a-peacock toned lash is the best sidekick a busy-beauty can have. It works with all eye colors, helps you look amazing and works your look tirelessly for hours! Ka-ka-ka-ka-CHING!
Make room for Ka-Boom!: It’s the secret agent working for the blue-tification of most eye colors, yet will really add snap and pop to the blue-y shades. One flutter of your super-powered peepers and you’ll never look back. Introducing… Gal Wonder!
Oh Wow, Ka-Pow!: These violet tipped beauties are a special gift for all eye shades, but will add extra POW-er to brown hued eyes. Be your own alter ego by ditching the dull and buffing up those beautiful eyes. It really is your brand new secret weapon. Holy Lash power!

So basically, we have smaller pieces to piece together, lashes in a purple shade, some with a pop of green colour and finally a peacock themed set.
Gutted for us UK folks I think we have to wait till the new year for the eye enhancers to be be available whereas the US have them in time for the holidays! Dammit. Another plus for being an American....
I would have thought they would be around the £7-£10 mark, probably a little bit more then then your standard fake eyelashes.
So excited for these bad boys.

Life: November 2012 Round Up

I completely forgot about this months round up! Woops. So here we are about a week late.....
Let me start by saying I think I love London. Although I'm not working (still-argh) when I have some money I can tell that it'll be my new playground.
I think I've come to grips with the underground a great dealer quicker then I thought and the shopping is fabulous-its just a shame that everything is expenseive and I have no money.
The month started OK with a job interview at JustFab as as the role of style consultant; a mixture of styling and admin, really it was too good to be true! I managed to make it across to Oxford Circus-with the help of my sister but the interview fell flat and I didn't get the role.
I had a pick me up though as I headed back to Shropshire for the weekend as it was my friend Tammys hen night. Was so much fun!!! Possibly the best night of the year, we had some delicious tapas then went out drinking at Play, there were about 16 of us and it was just such a good night, I loved it.
But for some reason that seemed to be the end of a good week. As my computer broke and I had no way really of looking for work!! I bought newspapers and tried using Bryonys little computer but I do not have the patience for that at all. This lasted for about two weeks and so I signed up with some recruitment agencies and sent my CV to possibly ever fashion store in Richmond and Staines area! Unfortunately I had little to no success with that but managed to score myself an interview at Harrods in Knightsbridge for the role of Data Entry Shopping Assistant. I was insanely excited as Harrods is literally a worldwide famous store! I had two interviews and a job trial but apparently it wasn't to be and they didn't offer me the position. I was truly gutted as I'd trekked back and forth from Knightsbridge a few times and thought that the trail went OK.
So I had to pull myself back into applying for work left, right and centre. Thankfully my Uncle Martin managed to supply with an awesome new laptop for just £250, he came to visit from Teeside just at the same time Mitch was down in London, we went out for a meal at Prezzo with Uncle Martin, my dad and his girlfriend Veronica. Me and Mitch also went to go and see Breaking Dawn: Part Two (will add a quick review as per) it was OK, much like the other Twilight films but with a little twist and will keep us fans happy. We also watched The Amazing Spiderman which was good too. It was nice to have Lyle here, I showed where I used to go to school and all that jazz :) We also took a trip over to Richmond and it look stunning at night.
Bryz started her job early on in the month and although she has long days and doesn't love it I'm sure she is happy for the money!
Seeing as Hannah's originally from London and her mum is down here still she comes to visit often so I have see her twice already, which I am very happy about.
As I voluntarily left my job in the midlands I didn't think I would be entitled to JSA (Job Seekers Allowance  but it turns out I am which is a bonus, least I have some money which I can pass on to my dad!
However not enough to spend at Kardashian Kollection in Dorothy Perkins dammit!! I'll be doing a post soon on all the jazzy pieces from the line that I fancy purchasing.
With all this free time I have managed to catch up on lots of TV shows, when I didn't have a laptop I missed around 30 episodes!! Insane.
December will of course bring Christmas and I better have a job by the New Year or I shall be both bored and very poor :(
I have had some December interviews and possibly temp work, hopefully December will be full of merriment :D

Fashion: Yanks vs. Brits

I've decided upon a new post I will create every month, along with the current monthly round up, best dressed and monthly loves. I've titled it Yanks vs. Brits.
I did think about waiting until we hit 2013 to start this but I'll just have to think up something else for the new year!!
So I am starting off with reality TV stars. I originally had this subject as TV shows in general but decided to split into subcategories which means a future post will likely be 'Fictional TV Shows.'
We shall have an equal number of TV shows from the U.S and GB and a little fashion off, as I'm English but a lover of everything American I see myself as an impartial judge.
(I'm not talking about the show itself but the styling i.e clothing and beauty)

In the Brits corner we have Geordie Shore, Made in Chelsea and The Only Way is Essex.
Geordie Shore is clearly inspired by Jersey Shore and the styling is the most similar but our Newcastle natives are not so brazenly......crazy.
Holly, Charlotte, Sophie and Vicky all have a great love for being made up; fake tan, fake lashes, fake hair-everything fake. Although they are all styled to perfection there is something relatable about the styling; dark bodycon, bright skater dresses and platform peep-toes can be rocked by anyone.
The Only Way is Essex differs slightly as the majority of the girls have had some sort of surgery; liposuction, botox, breast implants etc taking the level of superficiality up a notch.
But this only boosts the glamour factor; diamante detail, heavy gloss and coiffed hair are not just for parties and the girls are consistently dressed up to the nines.
Made in Chelsea is out final nominee offering a much calmer take on Brit fashion; skinny trousers, collared shirts and cute jackets are what the Londoners wear with style. The make up is lighter and 'bed hair' is the only way forward, with the chic chicks adding a lick of eye liner, red lips and platforms for nights out.

Fighting for the Yanks we have Jersey Shore, The Hills and The City.
Jersey Shore had to be thrown in here but to be honest I can barely relate to their fashion choices. They attempt some fashion trends but with such vulgarity that it often falls flat, like the UK comparison they clearly enjoy fakery but the lips are darker, the hair higher and the tan deeper. The clothes are a mash of leopard print, lurid shades and zebra print and the overloads of gold is insane.
The Hills keep everything very American with summery brights, denim separates and flats or pretty wedges. Designer staples mixed with high street offer California cool and the make up can be either a little mascara and balm or full on glitter, lashes and lipstick.
The City is the not so successful spin off and has a similar feel to Made in Chelsea.Classic shapes and chic materials are prominent; nudes, blacks with a dash of yellow or red. The girls are made up but like the UK comparison it looks effortless, looks being the operative word as its evident that a great deal of precision is taken to obtain this style.

I thought this would be an easy win but I'm a little ashamed to say although Jersey Shore are at the bottom for me, the girls of The City and The Hills are so chic they equal it out.
So for my for first edition of Yanks vs. Brits we come to a tie, with them both having 21/30.
If you fancy channeling your inner reality star you can check out below for the UK stores which offer pieces inspired by, seen on or in the style of your favourite TV girls. We have a draw.

Geordie Shore (6/10)> Boohoo, Missguided, New Look
The Only Way Is Essex(6/10)> Lipsy, Gorgeous Couture, Forever Unique
Made in Chelsea(7/10)> Zara, French Connection, Topshop

Yanks Jersey Shore (1/10)> New Look, Primark, Select
The Hills(9/10)> H&M, Urban Outfitters, Miss Selfridge
The City(9/10)> Zara, Reiss, Mango

Christmas: First day

I've seen a few people doing this but it's been at the back of my mind for a while and so I'm going to go ahead and be like every other fashion blogger! As I am posting a different something something everyday I shall ditch the December loves list for a month.

Fashion: Best Dressed November 2012

November already!! Where has this year gone? Christmas soon!!
You can really tell that people are getting aboard the colours of Autumn and Winter as there was no sunshine yellow or bright orange this month. Blue in every shade from aqua to navy was popular along with other dark colours such as purple, black and grey.

*Selena Gomez at the Unicef Snowflake ball in a Dolce and Gabbana Fall 2004 dress in a stunning navy shade with gold detailing
*Diane Kruger was stylish as she mixed an old school glamour hairstyle with a chic navy blue playsuit by Jason Wu at Jaeger boutique in Paris
*Jennifer Lawrence in a tight fitted dove grey mini by Alexander Wang and adorable Alexandre Birman cut out heels on Jay Leno
*Rita Ora at the British Fashion awards in a show stopping metallic aqua Vivienne Westwood (you can very much tell) looking extremely glam-my favourite look to date
*Katy Perry in a Naeem Khan dress as she also attend the Unicef Snowflake ball (also in a deep shade of blue) and Lorraien Schwartz jewels
*Lin Chi-Ling stunned in a beautiful white gown from Atelier Versace (a favourite of mine) and kept her hair and make up simple yet classic at the Golden Horse awards

*Begrudgingly I add Miranda Kerr to this list is smart but casual in red Manalo Blahnik pumps and matching cardigan with black separates.
*I surprise myself be loving this clash of fuschia and black Dior outfit worn by Ruth Wilson at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards
*Kate Mara was another in a Dior this time a LBD with nude accessories at Kimberley Snyders Glow Bio in Hollywood
*Melissa George rocking her brunette locks in a minimal but stunning navy strapless dress by Armani at the International Emmy Awards
*Kim Kardashian in her loyal Casadei pumps and a gorgeous Sally Lapointe peplum dress as she accepted the keys to North Miami
*Bérénice Marlohe makes another appearance on this list in a deep purple J Mendel dress at the Sydney premiere of Skyfall, the gown was a beautiful mix of chiffon, floral applique and sequins

As always I had a struggle choosing my favourite but I must take my hat off to Lin Chi-Ling. I love this Atelier Versace line and she looks absolutely flawless, I have never spotted her before but as always will now keep my eyes peeled for her in the future.

Beauty: Kardashians and Katy Perry

My nails colour for this weekend is once again a mix from two of my favourite celebrities; Rainbow in the Skylie by Kardashian Kolor and Teenage Dream by Katy Perry on top of The One That Got Away also by Katy Perry, both are O.P.I

The shade I used as a base is a deep pink with a metallic edge, two layers was required to offer the strong colouring. I then put on the pale pink sparkling colour which didn't quite seem enough so I then added the multi-colour sparkle on top of that.
The Katy Perry glitter has small pieces of shimmer in, almost micro-glitter like silver particles whereas the Kardashian nail polish has dazzling multi-shades of glitter; green, pink, red, gold in much larger portions.

Life: Retweet!

Rose McGowan retweeted/replied to one of my tweets, I just had to make it public, for me its kind of a big deal....

Just saying

Life: Blog 3

If you are into fashion/beauty/ lifestyle or anything remotely girly I will be pretty surprised if you haven't come across this blog before!

Its one of the first blogs I visited when I started blogging. Its run by a style columnist, Anna James, who has worked with some sensational people and companies from The Hills fashion and beauty starlet Lauren Conrad to worldwide famous women magazine Glamour.

Even if you don't find her appealing in regards to fashion or lifestyle Anna still offers inspiration for colour, layout and themes.

Fashion: Icon- The Rose McGowan Post

"I own about 150 pairs of shoes. I love Jimmy Choo and Manolo heels."
Rose McGowan
I contemplated going for Jennifer Lawrence but I think she has so much more to offer and with the Hunger Games premieres/junkets etc coming in 2012 it's a bit early for her.
So we have had Lauren Conrad, Ashley Tisdale, Blake Lively, Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian and I have now decided to go for Rose McGowan.
A potentially random choice but I love her as an actress, inspiration and as a icon. Rose oozes old school glamour and you shall notice that most of these outfits are red carpet purely because she is so dazzling and always looking gloriously fabulous.
(I very much cheated by the way and chose 14 outfits as she has far too many wonderful clothes!)
*In a Hervé L. Leroux turquoise dress with plunging neckline at 2011 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Gala in Los Angeles
*Classic chic in a blazer, skinnies and purple tasseled Christian Louboutin boots as she ran errnads in L.A
*Dominatrix meets girly in this black leather Versace dress with metallic and pink accessories at 2011 MTV Music Video Awards
*She dazzled in a this olive green Reema Acra dress for the 40th anniversary of Charlie Chaplin’s honorary Academy Award

*One of my super favourites in this gorgeous pink Monique Lhuillier dress and to die for purple peep toes
*In a cute black dress by  Marc Jacobs with blood red heels as the host of 3rd Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala New York 2012
